Ms. Colvin does an amazing job with her student led presentations. Students leave her class always better communicators and global citizens. So proud of this work! @MeyzeekMiddle@JCPSBackpack@JCPSKY#successskills
Great Team Leader meeting today with @MeyzeekMiddle staff! We laughed, we problem solved. Everyone feeling more confident about having a great year. It's amazing to be in the presence of these highly skilled educators. Always dedicated and professional. #WeareJCPS@Dr_RKBranch
I can't wait to see how @ELeducation frees up the creative genius of our students and teachers @MeyzeekMiddle. Literacy to access the world. Strategies to change it. #weareJCPS
I had the privilege to sub in our 7th grade special education class. Our ECE teacher, Ms. Medley, does an amazing job with visual supports in the class. My favorite is the board for sharing seats on her comfy couch. And yes, the class was great! @MeyzeekMiddle@JCPS_ECE@JCPSKY
Today was @MATHCOUNTS tryouts at @MeyzeekMiddle ! Over 150 students eager to show off their math skills. If you haven’t heard the anxious paper flip at the start of the timer, you need to. These kids will solve our worlds future problems! They’re ready! @JCPSKY#WeAreJCPS
I had the privilege of teaching ELA today with some amazing 7th grade innovators. They had a great discussion over the merit of analyzing fiction. Humanities build empathy in our students. Breaking down stories help us understand ourselves. @JCPSKY@MeyzeekMiddle#WeAreJCPS
@colonelteacher@MeyzeekMiddle An interesting thought experiment, direct verses indirect democracy. How could people account for an ignorant or misinformed electorate? How do we encourage competence among the electors over the social pulls that exist? I’d love to see their answers.
Today, the demon of trauma exposed it’s head in many areas in 7th grade. And though addressing it is difficult, it’s why I love my job and the teachers I work with. A measured and loving response to these moments starts the healing that can change a student’s or teacher’s life.
Passion for education runs in my family! My wife getting recognized for the talented special Ed teacher she is. I’m lucky to learn her from everyday. @JCPSKY@JCPS_ECE#CESLeadTheCharge
I couldn’t be more proud to work in public ed. in @JCPSKY at @MeyzeekMiddle. These teachers fight for these moments every day. I see it in our classes and the faces of our kids. There isn’t a more important or better place to be for me. Cheers and love to this great work. 11/11
Today, while covering a 6th grade lunch, I joked with a 1st year teacher, “Wearing your army green today?” His response: “Sometimes it feels like battle.” And while every job presents its difficulties, I think his response reflects the burden placed on public educators 1/x
It is a battle against the multiplied odds of distractions we face every day. A battle for every student to find a moment in which they feel empowered to see the potential in themselves. A power inside the student the teacher has seen all along. 10/x
