Banff’s first two wildlife overpasses were built in 1996 at a cost of $1.5 million each. A series of underpasses followed, tunnelling beneath the highway to provide a safe alternative.
Combined with fencing to keep the animals off the road, the structures have reduced animal-vehicle collisions in the area by more than 80%—and by more than 96% for elk and deer alone.
NEW: The Calgary Stampede has unveiled its 20 year master plan. The plan includes 7 distinct zones across the park, a new live events space on the site of the Saddledome, and replacements for the Big Four Building and Agriculture Building.
The Bearspaw Feeder Main is now offline for essential maintenance. While crews carry out this critical work, Calgarians can help by conserving water. Small actions across our city make a big difference. Let’s work together and keep Calgary’s water system strong. https://t.co/5FDJKlCyk6
I almost walked right past it. 🌼
Just another quiet door at the Calgary airport.
Until I learned what it was for.
Not every hero wears a badge.
Some build spaces where survivors feel safe enough to speak.
To breathe.
To begin again.
This is the Yellow Rose Room.
Soft lights.
No questions.
No judgment.
Just safety.
A final chance to say,
“I’m not okay, and I need help.”
Created by a former RCMP officer.
Supported by the heart and vision of @NIMCAlly and the incredible folks like #PaulBrandt.

But for someone in crisis, it notices them.
Let’s make sure more people know what this yellow rose really means.

Why are men like this given so many chances to hurt women and girls? Victims strewn behind them like a debris field. Judges smile and let them out again and again.
✨ Lights of Hope ✨
Tonight, we joined first responders from across Calgary to show support for the patients, families & dedicated staff at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
🎄🚨 In this annual tradition, we shine our lights for those spending the holidays away from home, hoping to bring comfort & lift their spirits.
🤝 We extend our sincere appreciation to our partner agencies for coming together to make this special night possible.
The Field of Crosses stands as one of Alberta’s most powerful reminders of service, sacrifice and courage. From November 1-10 Calgarians commemorate our fallen in sunrise and sunset ceremonies.
Yesterday’s ceremony along Calgary’s Memorial Drive honoured first responders and the animals who work with them.
Within the field of crosses there are members of the police, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians who left their jobs to enlist in the Canadian Armed Forces, fight for our country, and who sadly did not come home.
Each of the 3,700 crosses tells a story of bravery and love of country. We will remember them. Always.
