Okay this is genuinely insane.
SpaceX just unveiled a satellite whose only job is to run AI. Not internet. Not GPS. Just compute, floating in orbit.
It's called AI1, and the reason behind it breaks your brain.
AI data centers on Earth are hitting a wall, not a chip wall, a physics wall.
They need staggering amounts of power and water just to stay cool, and we're running out of grid and land to build them.
So Musk's answer is: stop building them on Earth.
In orbit, the sun never sets. Free power, 24/7. No water for cooling, you just radiate heat into the vacuum of space. The two things choking AI on the ground barely exist up there.
And here's the wild part: Musk says it's easier to build than a Starlink satellite. Strip out the complex antennas and it's "a lot of solar cells, a radiator, and some laser links."
One AI1 carries the compute of an Nvidia GB300 rack, the same hardware data centers fight over down here.
AI1 is just the first one. The plan is a constellation of up to a million of them.
And the timing isn't an accident, SpaceX goes public this week at a ~$1.75 trillion target. This isn't a rocket company anymore. It's positioning itself as the power grid for AI, in space.
The race for AI compute just left the planet. Literally.

Interesting. There is some controversy out there about their coach keeping CC out of the game when should she should be on the floor more. The other players are great, but when she is there to dictate the flow and dish the ball to them, well...Let's just say their stellar play is amplified. This is what I found after a deep dive concerning the Indiana Fever: "The data from these losses shows that opposing teams are acutely aware of the "Clark tax." If they can't stop her while she's on the floor, they hyper-aggressively hunt for runs the exact second she goes to the bench. Every single loss Indiana has suffered this year has been heavily dictated by how poorly the team survives when she is off the hardwood." Makes perfect sense. They have blown leads, I mean... #WNBATwitter #wnba #basketball #sports
Secretary Of War Pete Hegseth : The Biden administration’s experimental COVID-19 vaccine mandate was wrongfully forced onto our warfighters.
It was unjust, and we are doing EVERYTHING we can to make it right.

I read a post by an author who had been accused of using AI to write a story. The story had been written and published without it, yet the accuser posted it in a review. I'm going to be blunt here...The vast majority of these self appointed "AI checkers". They... You know what? I'm not going to continue with my thoughts of them. Instead I will say this: I took one of my own short stories and ran it through an AI detector. Low and Behold! It said 67% written by AI. Strange. The story was started in 2019, re-worked in 2020, and published in March of 2021. It's a fantasy story from my series, The Balance of Kerr, in the anthology titled Songs Of Valor. How in the world was I supposed to use AI to write that? Did I go back in time to turn the story in? If I did, you could bet your ass I would be in the middle of a time travel series right now...written from experience. Oh, I'd also like to mention that those of you so concerned whether or not someone used AI and you check it using an AI detector...you are using AI to do that. It was trained by... GASP! Going out into the digital world and learning from stories. I mean...
@PecanC8 Yeah...No. Years back, even my youngest going into kindergarten knew the deal. "Meagan, what will you do if a boy pulls you hair?" Her answer: "He'll get a left, left, right." Yeah, she knew to throw combos at 5 years old. Some kid would have been in for a surprise.
I thought I would post this, to give everyone a moment's break from everything on here. Like it, share it...all the things and then get back to what you do best.
