Been working to pass independent oversight of @VADOC for over three years now. A couple years ago the bill didn’t make it out of its first subcommittee hearing. This year it was unanimous in both chambers and just got signed by the Governor.

To add some context…Lawrenceville Correctional Center will be taken over by VADOC. The GEO Group will no longer manage the facility.

@BlasioRobinson This is so sad & disgusting on behalf of the prison facility & DOC. They want to house them forever but ignore the fact that they’re humans who also deserve medical treatment as well. Something needs to be done for those incarcerated w/ illnesses AND mental health‼️
