Houston track and field received some pushback earlier this year when Olympic bronze medalist Louie Hinchliffe rejoined the program after originally turning pro.
NCAA approved his petition for one more season.
“The bigger thing was everyone else was pissed. That’s what I loved the most about it. I love to be the disruptor,” Houston head coach and 9-time Olympic gold medalist said in an interview with @GregBailey13 and @HoustonChron.
Hinchliffe won 2024 NCAA 100-meter title. NCAA championships begin next week in Eugene, Ore.
I’d say he’s the best possible face of the program you could have carrying the flag forward, but Sampson & Houston have had several guys like this
That said, the ability to balance confidence and humility at such a young age is truly remarkable
