It’s going to be a minute before the Pistons lose a game that really affects them, so there’s no reason to put a lot of stock into this one. I do think the starting lineup needs to change. Tobias has not earned his spot this season. Stewart has soundly outplayed him.
I’m serious man. Like imagine how much more drained Brunson and Hart would’ve been having to deal with Ivey’s downhill speed ever single game. That shit wears on you. Especially with a roster that goddamn top heavy. Annoying how it played out cuz of injuries. Future is bright tho
Tbh I’m more lukewarm on paying Duren. Which pains me to say cuz I loved when we drafted him. I’d be more interested in prioritizing paying Ausar.
Cade/Ivey/Ausar - this would be my main core going forward. Let’s see what Ron can do too as time goes on.
John Hollinger on the possibility of Jaden Ivey getting extended
“I have a hard time seeing how the Pistons and Ivey could come to a resolution on a long-term number. The Pistons are under no long-term cap pressure and can afford to wait a year and gather more information, even if it costs them a bit if Ivey breaks out. Ivey likely has just as much incentive to push up the value of his next contract rather than settle for what would likely be MLE-ish type money on an extension. For what it’s worth, BORD$ only sees him as a $10 million value, and surely Ivey would frown at any figure in that range.”
It’s not a 1:1 comparison… BUT… this situation sorta kinda reminds me of Aidan Hutchinson. The Lions brass prolly want to see him back and healthy before committing insane dollars. Idk. It’s not a perfect comparison but yeah. Pay Ivey.
