If you've ever said "thank you for your service" to a veteran and gotten a weird look in response, I said some things to try and explain why that happens.

I seem to have ended up in the news again, giving context to why the military struggles with culture change and the presence of hate-filled ideologies

I said some things, trying to draw attention to the long-existing systemic and endemic problem within military culture that enables this to happen.

Please read and share. ❗️Genocide is the intention to destroy a group as such❗️Using a 'triple lens approach' allows to easily understand it. All is needed is looking at:
➡️the totality of conduct (which may include either crimes per se - killing, torture, forced displacement, etc - or acts conducive to crimes),
➡️against the totality of the group (e.g. Israel treats any Palestinian, old or young, as a security threat, arrestable or even killable, which facilitates all manners of unlawful conduct and justification thereof);
➡️in the totality of the land (the entire occupied Palestinian territory, namely what Israel claims sovereignty on and where Palestinians 'must' be uprooted/eliminated).
Far from being 'a novel approach', what I propose is common sense, based on int'l law and jurisprudence.
My last report, Genocide as Colonial Erasure, explains the long-standing colonial logic of the unfolding genocide, and I am glad @Law4Palestine summarised it. 👇

Precision: unseating Israel is a consequence of it being serial violator of int'l law, including UN Charter, decisions, resolutions, administrative rules, etc. To stop the genocide, member states must impose sanctions on Israel and consider acting on the responsibility to protect (R2P).
woke up to some big news: The ICC has issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant, for crimes against humanity and war crimes.

There are many ways in which Israel is destroying the Palestinians in Gaza. Creating unsustainable and inhumane conditions of life is the most complex and cruel.
Do not call it "war". It is a genocide. The motives are irrelevant. The intent (ie the determination) to destroy is evident and unequivocal. As unequivocal is the complicity of others states.

Oh, hells no.
This is absolute horse-shit and only serves one purpose: to try and silence (and even criminalize) criticism of a rogue state engaged in crimes against humanity.

NEW: ‘A Cartography of Genocide’. Since October 2023, we have collected and analysed data related to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Our findings indicate that Israel has systematically targeted all aspects of civilian life. https://t.co/UUxYqpTF72
More than 41,800 people have been killed in a year of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The health ministry in Gaza has confirmed the identities of more than 34,000 of them. Here are their names.
@DivebumChef@VeteransENG_CA I flagged this over 2 years ago when the costs in the Toronto area surpassed what VAC/BlueCross would cover. They raised the amount but did not match or keep up with what psych visits charge, especially for more senior/experiences psychologists. I'm currently paying $40/visit.
@TMCultures Wish I was able to make it out there this year, but I just couldn't balance things time-wise. Please pass on some hugs from me to everyone in attendance.
