Halo Combat Evolved is a more Greco-Roman work compared to Halo 2 which I think is coming through because of Jason Jones interest in the Classics and Antiquity, which I think is expressed in the very graphically smooth aesthetic of its levels. Halo 2 has a harder Science fiction-

The Library level in Halo CE parallels the journey of the Greco-Roman hero to the Underworld where he often battles the souls of the dead and is guided by a ferryman or oracle. The Library itself being the dead record of Ancient Man is like Hades containing all the Ancient souls
