Shutting down mining of BTC doesn’t mean less BTC gets created. The rate of new coins being created is fixed and a reduction of miners simply adjusts the difficulty of mining a block but has NO bearing on the number of coins created. Sorry @CNBC you don’t understand
China cracking down on BTC miners is simply a distraction. The coins will still get mined, the network is still secured. Btc miners congregate where energy costs are low. Maybe China doesn’t like subsidized energy prices getting used to mint money? Too capitalistic for them!
99% of anything CNBC says on crypto is wrong. If you exchange eth for a beeple art work you owe gains on the sale/exchange of ETH. The irs is clear on this and no idea why CNBC is saying otherwise. @SquawkCNBC@CNBC
@CNBC how many times are you going to say BTC topped 1 trillion when in fact that’s NOT TRUE! The entire value of the cryptocurrency market topped 1 trillion but BTC is sitting at 700 billion. Come on!
CNBC has misreported the value of BTC about 5 times this morning! The total value of the entire crypto market has surpassed 1 trillion but BTC currently sits at 700 billion. Perhaps they’re simply foreshadowing the future! #CNBC @brianshapiro3
