There’s a popular trader on this space who decided to target just 2RR on all his trades.
Once he hits 2RR, he takes the profit and he’s out.
Some people think that’s foolish.
“Why settle for 2RR when there was a clear opportunity to get 3RR, 5RR or even 10RR?”
But watching this video reminded me of something important:
You need to have a goal that tells you when you’ve succeeded.
If your target is 2RR and you hit 2RR, you’ve succeeded. The fact that the trade eventually went 5RR doesn’t change that.
A lot of traders make money and still lose it all because they keep moving the goalpost.
They hit their target, but then greed makes them think about what they could have made.
Next thing, they’re holding trades longer than planned, taking unnecessary risks and giving back profits they already had.
It’s the same reason that sometimes you can get exactly what you asked for and still lose it because you started looking for more.
Discipline is knowing when enough is enough.
Stay consistent and true to the goal, regardless of how many extra points you think you could have scored.
If it wasn’t on your radar, ignore it completely.
A missed opportunity is better than turning a winning trade into a losing one.

One of the easiest ways to get stopped out unnecessarily is trying to force an exact entry from a POI that is too wide or unclear.
Sometimes the zone is too large.
Sometimes there are multiple possible reaction points inside it.
Sometimes you simply don’t have enough information to confidently set a limit.
That is when I prefer confirmations.
Instead of guessing exactly where price will reverse from, I let price come into my POI and show me that buyers or sellers are actually beginning to take control.
CISD is one of the confirmations I use for this.
Yes, waiting for confirmation can mean entering later and sacrificing some R:R.
But sometimes getting more information before risking your money is far more valuable than trying to catch the absolute top or bottom.
My new video explains CISD, how I trade with confirmations, and when confirmation entries make more sense than blind limits.
