Excited to share our latest research, published in the European Journal of Protistology! We show how microbial bioindicators can support peatland monitoring and protection.

Recently I submitted my PhD thesis and two articles (🤞), and said goodbye to Belfast... swiftly coming back a week later for my viva, where my thesis was accepted with minor corrections! - - - Exciting times ⚡
I've been in Belfast for more than two years, but the @BritishEcolSoc scored me my best photo of Belfast in all that time... and it's only the first day of #BES2023 🌇
I'll be presenting work from my PhD at the BES Annual Meeting 2023 this week! Come to the Microbial Ecology session on Thursday if you want to hear about what I am doing with testate amoebae on Peatlands! #BES2023
I've been having a lot of fun recently, playing around with live communities from Sphagnum moss. This Nebela had the rumblies that only other Testate Amoebae could satisfy. #testateamoebae#peatland
#ISTA10 comes to an end... Thank you all for coming and putting your heart and soul in your research.
We'll watch out for all of your publications and results!
We hope to see you soon, and hopefully with those who couldn't be here.
Thanks again to our sponsors and the @RJBOTANICO
#ISTA10 continues with #bioindication by the hands of @CallumRCEvans, Anne V. Nguyen and Caroline Meyer.
📰 Look them up here!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who attended #ASB9 last week! It was amazing to see your enthusiasm and hear about the huge range of exciting #astrobiology#research going on in the UK today!
Here are (most of) us from Friday lunch time - apologies to those who missed the photo!
More excellent talks on day 2 of #ASB9 on another ☀️🔥 day in London! Currently hearing from CPS colleague and Board member Prof Ian Crawford @BBKEPS on the important topic of ‘Who speaks for Earth? Some political implications for Astrobiology’ 🌍 🤔
I've been after getting to the @AstrobioSoc's biennial conferences since 2015's #ASB6... back when I was an undergrad. I have finally been able to attend this year's #ASB9 during my PhD - next step is to complete some work that is appropriate to present at one 🫡 🌌
@KDumack I couldn't see a clear cytoplasm on the Assulina muscorum - but I could here on this Nebela tincta - so I'd wager the Nebela won this one, or at least had a nibble at an old dead test floating about.
