May I introduce you to Hotchkin Pippin, our second rediscovered apple - confirmed this week by the Fruit ID panel! Last recorded in Herts in 1883, a trail of clues led to its 1800 origin in a Rutland hedge. It's not as pretty as Lady Lennox but crops heavily on iron-ore soils.
ππͺ Time for Scotland to weigh in on the action!
We take on the #WaterlilyWeighOff24, as challenged by @denverbotanic. With a very Scottish twist up our sleeves (we're looking at you @irnbru) and a guest appearance from Marley, the Botanics cat, do we have what it takes to win?
ππ Another look at our milestone moment in the Herbarium! The millionth specimen to be digitised was a lichen collected by #TeamRBGE lichenologist Dr @rebecca_yahr on an expedition up Ben Nevis in 2021 for the @darwintreelife project. Find out more π https://t.co/CE7h7Wt3ck

Took some photos of Wee Reekie this week to see how it compared with the Auld Reekie Amorphophallus titanum @TheBotanics. Here's some photos I've edited to show how impressive this plant truly looks.

Looking after the glasshouses @TheBotanics this weekend and getting to see New Reekie, Amorphophallus titanum was great to behold. Unfortunately the glasshouses aren't open to public at this time.

Newts have returned to the pond by the Demonstration Garden after a few years of not being seen in this pond.
We have two species of newt @TheBotanics. One being the Smooth Newt and Second being the Palmate Newt.
Photo of a Palmate I photographed a few years ago by this pond.
The pond by the Demonstation Garden is filling with wildlife @TheBotanics.
Clearance and restoration done to this pond earlier in the year has seen more wildlife return to the healthy pond. So far Newts, Frogs, Tadpoles, Spawn, Diving Beetles, Water Fleas, Ducks have been seen.
