Last week, a cohort of Seventh Graders traveled to Puerto Rico for an immersive leadership journey that featured volunteer opportunities with our partners at APRODEC, a cultural dance lesson, and a hands-on workshop on marine life conservation.ππ΄π

Thank you to astronaut Dr. Clint Kelly for visiting our Ninth and Tenth Agers this week! On Wednesday, Dr. Kelly, a retired engineer and the second-oldest individual to go into space, met with students to talk about his 2022 voyage.π§βππ

As part of our Earth Week activities, students learned about minimizing waste by participating in a Food Waste Challenge.
The result? Students had the opportunity to see how much food is discarded each day and visualize its effects on the environment.π
Yesterday morning, the Eighth Age walked to nearby Sherwood Gardens to see the tulips!π·π± While at the park, the students used their iPads to take photos of the flowers and other aspects of nature, which will inspire spring poems.πΈ

Last week, we welcomed members of the Banner Society for a special evening in the Luetkemeyer Athletic Center.π Featuring a presentation from teachers Matthew Gallo '15 and Josh Hanson-Kaplan, the reception was a celebration of the generosity that fuels our mission. π
This week, we joined some of our Kiddie Calvert friends for egg hunts outside the Lower School!π₯ On Wednesday and Thursday, these little learners looked high and low for eggs filled with small treats as parents cheered from the sidelines.βοΈ
Last week, we were thrilled to welcome back so many familiar faces for Alumni Weekend!π€π From the Signature Reunion Breakfast and Alumni Cocktail Party to reunion celebrations, generations of alumni came together, reminding us of the strength of our community.

That's a wrap on Middle School Spirit Week! To close out the final day, the students dressed in team huesπ¨ and competed in a color relay that featured three-legged races, slaloms, bowling, and more.

Last month, we challenged the Lower Schoolers to read for more than 3,000 hours for March Reading Madness. The students not only MET that incredible goal, but they SURPASSED IT with more than 5,000 hours read!πβ¨οΈ

Last Friday, the entire Eighth Grade class journeyed to D.C. to tour the Holocaust Memorial Museum and visit several monuments on the National Mall. Each stop aligned with curriculum from history and English classes and reminded students of the context behind those lessons.
The Sixth Agers continued their unit on ocean lifeπͺΌπ this morning with a visit from the National Aquarium. Over the past few weeks, the students have learned about sea turtles, seahorses, and sea otters β but today was all about SHARKS!π¦

Members of the Class of 2025 acted as volunteer party planners yesterday as they assembled βbirthday packsβ of cake mix, candles, handmade cards, and more for the Baltimore Hunger Project.π₯³ These party kits will create opportunities for local families to make memories together.
