You may have seen a recent article that mentions KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, speculating on the reasons for the change in publishing partners for PHYSINT.
Normally, we would not comment on unsubstantiated speculation on the internet, but these aspersions around our relationship with PlayStation, the commercial performance of the DEATH STRANDING franchise, and the broader production planning and investment for PHYSINT, have reached beyond the studio and have touched our fans, our creative partners, and colleagues we have worked alongside with for three decades.
None of the claims written came from any official or on-the-record source and as such we encourage you to take them with a dose of scepticism.
Make no mistake, this was a serious situation for the studio with a range of potentially significant implications. While we recognise that the article may have caused alarm, we want to reassure you all, for the record: that the studio is in a healthy, profitable state, development for PHYSINT continues to move forward with XBOX, and our relationship with PlayStation remains strong.
Thank you for your continued support,
KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS
Last month I wrote about how we can build a positive and safe future for everyone: https://t.co/eoLGVY8yad
Every lab has the responsibility and incentive to move at the pace required to train its models safely, and the ability to take its own actions to ensure that happens.
The reality is:
- People won't want to use agents that are misaligned with them and that don't do what they ask, so labs have a strong natural incentive to make their models more aligned.
There is a lot of debate about slowing progress on capabilities until alignment catches up. My view is that trust and alignment are quickly becoming the most important capabilities that will differentiate agents and models. Any lab that doesn't focus on alignment will fall behind.
- Labs face significant liability if their models cause harm, so they have a strong incentive to prevent this as well.
Meta delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. We didn't call for everyone else to do this before we would. We just did it as part of our day-to-day work because it was clearly the right thing for people and for us. I'm proud of the security foundations we've built.
- Engaging independent evaluators and advisors is industry best practice. MSL already does this today in several areas because it helps produce better work. Other labs can just do this too. In general, it would be helpful for there to be a larger and more diverse ecosystem of evaluators.
- Committing the significant majority of compute towards serving people rather than racing towards recursive self-improvement is one of the best ways to ensure we develop this technology safely. Meta has made this commitment and other labs can do this as well.
I believe the key to building a positive future for everyone is maintaining the right balance of power. This is within our power to do.
Scott is misinformed. The Hugging Face incident occurred because OpenAI trained and guided a model to attack, hoping it would only attack the intended sandbox target, but not monitoring it closely enough to realize what it was doing. Furthermore, according to OpenAI staff (Eric Wallace and Michael Dalton) in a public presentation at Black Hat, the system was first caught attacking internal OpenAI systems (their Artifactory instance). Even after OpenAI caught the system exceeding its authority and attacking internal OpenAI systems they did not pause the exercise, they cleaned up Artifactory and kept letting the exercise run.
Poor security controls do not mean AI is going to kill us all. Poor security controls means immature governance processes.
Maybe the solution is to get an experienced CEO to run Anthropic vice someone distracted by his EA ambitions.
@Muckbeast Maybe the stupidest example ever considering the comparison to American sports.
A more apt comparison, yet still imperfect, is asking if anyone would trade NBA titles (the harder achievement) for Olympic medals in basketball.
GenG winning 5 Korean titles and 2 MSIs since 2022 is more difficult and impressive than T1 winning 3 Worlds titles and 1 Korean title, but you're not ready to have that conversation yet.
It will be even more impressive with a 6th.
Let me explain to you:
LCK basically is champions league.
The World Cup is dogshit because of the national teams and the horrendous format.
Worlds also has a horrendous format. T1 has failed to win any tournament with a good format.
You haven’t the slightest clue what teams “value,” nor can you define what that means.
You still haven’t answered why T1 wouldn’t have wanted to also win domestic titles or MSI.
GenG’s failures are extraordinary at Worlds, which also means T1’s wins are less impressive.
Imagine you've been going to a restaurant for years.
The restaurant is doing well, they're not hurting for money, staff's paid well, they make great food.
You take your friends, they love it.
They bring their friends, they love it.
Then one day, a new group shows up and they start saying "I like this, but it needs to change because I'd like it better this way."
Suddenly, they're on Facebook, saying your favorite dish is too spicy. They need to take onions out of the salad, all the food should be vegan because they think meat is murder...
Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing that happens in gaming. New "fans" show up, but the only thing they have to say is that things about the game need to change.
These are often things fundamental to why the original fans loved the game.
Is it all new fans? No, of course not.
But it happens enough that a gamer's butthole will pucker when they see new people flooding in.

Saber Interactive says one reason its games can be so profitable is simple: it doesn’t spend like a major North American studio.
Tim Willits, Saber’s chief creative officer, says the company has “no real development in North America anymore.” Most of its teams are now based across Europe, where costs can be substantially lower.
>Large North American studios can have a $2 million+ monthly burn rate.
>SnowRunner cost Saber around $6 million to make, yet generated hundreds of millions of dollars.
>Willits says that $6 million is roughly three months of development costs for a major California studio.
>At a $2 million monthly burn rate, five years would mean around $120 million in salaries alone.
Willits believes this shapes the games publishers are willing to make, when costs reach $100–150+ million, a game needs enormous sales just to justify the investment.
Saber takes a different way, keep costs under control, target specific audiences, and don’t assume every game must sell millions of copies.
Willits also claims Space Marine 2 cost about a third as much as a recent major game from a big North American studio, while selling 11 million more copies.
“You don’t need to spend $150 million to make a billion.”
He applauded for her not having an abortion and made a case that even thought the act of his conception was made from cruelty the child itself is not evil, the fact you are framing it this way makes you look like a retarded troglodyte
Women will do things like this and then kill their babies in the womb, post videos on TikTok in support of Lindsay Clancy, and vote to mass import rapists from the Third World.
Fun fact. The judge literally refused the play the audio of Patrick calling 911 after discovering his dead children because it was so gut wrenching that the judge believed it to be a danger to public safety.
You people are disgusting
