Eugene Burkins (1877-1929), FBA native of New Orleans, patented the Burkins Automatic Machine Gun. Despite meeting military standards, he failed to sell it. He ended up running a restaurant in Chicago and died penniless in Detroit. His idea was stolen and used 10 years later.
