@Hb2rcsteve @icy_pete @sentinel_hub And I am not saying it is an ideal solution but we will not stop using fossil fuels anytime soon so CC technologies buy us some time to get to 100% renewables. Then we have to get back down to 350ppm from 418ppm CO2 we have today. DAC is necessary and trees will get some way 2/2
@Hb2rcsteve @icy_pete @sentinel_hub It is sad, and I am sad. I can’t just stand by and watch everything I value slowly getting downgraded and lost. So long as there is breath in my body I shall do everything I can to find solutions to climate change. You may not agree with Carbon Capture 1/2
@Hb2rcsteve @icy_pete @sentinel_hub I’ve spent all my money and dedicated the last 20 years of my life developing fuel cells, tidal turbines and now carbon capture tech. Like it or not, money needs to be deployed at a significant scale investing in EVERY solution out there. Tree won’t save us now - too late for now
@philipbawn @icy_pete @sentinel_hub CO2LOC actually makes a profit from capturing and permanently sequestering CO2 NOx and SOx. We don’t need a carbon tax for our tech to work commercially. We can also capture directly from the air to repair the damage already done.
@kaylaente@jonathonporritt@GeorgeMonbiot We are developing carbon capture and mineralisation technology, many see us as a technology excuse for BAU but the truth is that we are not a solution on our own but are a transition technology so we have more time to transition to renewables. Please - no infighting
@kaylaente@jonathonporritt@GeorgeMonbiot I’m sorry but I’m with George, we live in an imperfect world and sometimes it’s a case of choosing the least worst solution. I’m a big fan of James Lovelock and his conclusion was that we had to have nuclear if we are to survive this climate crisis.
@GabrielleCanon How about building homes like those in Star Wars? In the U.K., changes to local planning laws made significant changes to the way new homes were designed to be more sustainable.
This is how we defeat Putin and other petrostate autocrats. With every problem comes opportunities. Decentralised renewable power generation will result in cheap and stable electricity supply, create jobs and wealth for the many rather than the few. https://t.co/7aTMt4Gwem
Today, I stood before the Danish parliament on a public hearing on social media & democracy
As a researcher of online hate, I could have spent hours. But I had 10 minutes, so I had to be focused
The title was "The Myths About Social Media"
Here is what I said👇

Those were my input!
The hearing launches the parliament's effort to improve democratic debate in the age of social media. Find more info on this important effort here: https://t.co/9psOMbsGn8

Major warning signs about rapid climate change are flashing awaying today at both of the planet’s poles.
But, no doubt, they will be fast swallowed up and ignored in our relentless “look squirrel" news cycle
It's really bleak in the NHS right now. Hospitals on black alert, ICUs filled with Covid, major cancer surgeries being cancelled.
Please obey the new Plan B rules. Not because that man told you to. Because *we* need you to - so we can help & save as many patients as possible 🙏
Thank you to @Hewitsons for hosting our Focus on #CarbonCapture yesterday.
Also a big thanks to Michael at @CamCarbCapture for an enlightening talk about how his carbon capture technology creates value by turning C02 into silicon dioxide, MgCO3 and rare earth materials.
