@ldl716 Don't think he reaches what Faber is today, but he plays like him. Thinking more of a Faber lite. Top 4 guy, good in transition, prevents zone entries, good at pushing the pace. Hes everything you want in a RHD today
@Troystechermuse@Kniesy00@nylanderthews Dreger has essentially just be peddling the same things that were true under Treliving. Maybe it's true but he's acting like Tre is still the GM
@PuckDontLie@gtownleafsfan If he wasn't a total cancer who is more than likely going to stagnant bc he doesn't have a work ethic and wants 9M, sure. But he's thriving off the "being a 2nd overall pick RHD at 22" label. Hes designer Timothy Liljegren
@LeafsfanEst1991@jamiemclennan29@KevinWeekes I was on the trade Hildeby train, don't think his value ever gets as high as it is now. But if it's gonna work I do wonder if they roster 3 goalies and rotate them, kind of like Carolina, to keep everyone fresh and then later in the year run the hot hand
@LeafsfanEst1991@jamiemclennan29@KevinWeekes It's one of those things where it's objectively in a vacuum a good trade, especially considering Woll hasn't always been available for various reasons and Stolarz value. But it's a bit worrying, and I'm praying AA can take the job and run. Nobody in FA I want at all
@LeafsfanEst1991@jamiemclennan29@KevinWeekes I'm not entirely convinced he ever plays 25 games again. Hes an injury away from being done. Idk why Treliving had to give him that extension, and why people praised it. Like I said, I'm not really sold on Hildeby, I don't think he's that good. Would love to be wrong.
@LeafsfanEst1991@jamiemclennan29@KevinWeekes Oh Woll is more sound, 100%. But he kind of suffers from the Freddie Andersen thing to a worse degree. Stolarz sometimes creates some of his own HDCA, but has the recovery and frame to somehow negate it. The last 2 years with Berube made everyone worse, it's a tricky spot
@LeafsfanEst1991 More than likely yeah, I'm not a Hildeby guy. He's just 6'7 which is why I wanted to trade him at his highest value. AA is the guy, but is he ready yet to take that over it's gonna end up being 30/30/20 between the 3 or something close
@LeafsfanEst1991 Stolarz is better when he plays, the issue is he doesn't play. Hes a negative asset because of his injuries and the fact that his contract expires at 37. If he actually played he wouldn't be, not much value even then but nobody is taking that without a sweetener
@LeafsfanEst1991 Oh I'm not saying they weren't horrendous defensively last year, but that doesn't negate the fact that Woll has always been streaky. When he's on he's a top 5 goalie in the league, he just follows that up with being unplayable for 7 games. Weren't going to get much more for him
@LeafsfanEst1991 It was gonna cost you to move Stolarz, they would've had to attach an asset. It's better to just have him either be elite or end up on LTIR, especially when they need to have better asset management than the last guy had
@LeafsfanEst1991 I would've preferred to trade Hildeby, but trading Woll is fine. Hes elite, top 5 goalie potential for 5 games then is unplayable for 7. It's a great move. And they have a good amount of assets to add + 31M in cap space to weaponize with cap strapped teams like NJD and BUF
@LeafsfanEst1991 Goalies A: have no value, and they had to trade 1. B: Stolarz has negative value C. Andrae is miles better than Benoit, Benoit is one of the worst dmen in the league. Andrae is physical, was 3rd on the flyers in hits and can move the puck, which we need. D: Woll is overrated
@JayOnLeafs@BobBark11503563@joshbeleaf I didn't say he's Brock Faber... I say he's Brock Faber lite. He's like Faber. There's a difference between saying he's the next Brock Faber and he's like Brock Faber... reading comprehension exists... he's nothing like Tanev ๐ญ
@Ryanmoggy@LeafsUpdates21 Leafs have 22M in cap space + Domi will end up on SELTIR, it's really not a problem at all. We have no really UFAs at all, or big contracts to sign. And with the 10% overage we would have time to figure it out anyway. You don't need to sign them before July 1 or at all
@BobBark11503563@joshbeleaf@JayOnLeafs Danford tries to get involved in push the play up ice while Tanev is staying back and playing deeper. While Tanev is an extremely high IQ player, they really aren't the same at all. He kills pressure before it gets in the zone, while Tanev endures the pressure
@BobBark11503563@joshbeleaf@JayOnLeafs Tanev plays a reactive game, Danford is proactive. Danford like Faber tried to shrink the ice, Tanev doesn't. Danford is more of an anticipation, active stick defender than a shot blocker, is mobile and a good transition facilitator, much like Faber. Hes Faber lite. Not Tanev
