2/2 Please be assured that the Cambridge Ice Arena is a community facility, intended to appeal to as wide a range of ice-enthusiasts as possible. As a commercial entity we’re ensuring its financial viability, so it can be enjoyed by generations to come.
1/2 ‘Grand Opening’ details on the 28 Sept are currently in discussion with the various parties. Invitees will necessarily be restricted and will include donors and all those who helped make the venue a reality. The extent of access for the general public has not been finalised.
4/4 Here’s a couple of progress photos showing the front entrance and ice pad under construction.
Nearly there for a summer opening - proof that good things come to them that wait!
1/4 Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates over the last few months – but rest assured we’ve been working flat out to get Cambridge and the region skating on great ice as quickly as possible.
3/4 As has become the norm for the project, challenges have continued to arise right up to today. However, we’re happy to tempt fate and say we’re now on top of them all.
As promised, here is a photo of the site taken yesterday with the steel structure starting to take shape. More images and updates to come as and when they happen.

Next week the steel columns will arrive on site to be erect, ready for the glulam roof beams. The ice rink will soon take shape, so will be keeping you up to date with photos and details. We are on track to be open by the back end of the year!
Three 10 tonne, 38m glulam beams, longest in the UK (we believe!), arrived from Germany yesterday having travelled by land & sea for 36 hours. Thank you to everyone involved, including Cambridgeshire Police and Marshalls, in ensuring we safely manoeuvred the beams onto our site.
Evening all! We are thrilled that our Ground Breaking Event happened today! Thanks for those who attended and all the kind words of support for the ice rink ⛸. Exciting times ahead for Cambridge! For more details please see: https://t.co/8DSucE3U6T
