Teachers can change these stats. We now have research that explains how language is processed and best learned. Structured literacy works. #teacher
Kids sometimes make poor choices (just like adults).
Keep in mind though, it’s the conversations we have with them and not just the consequences that make these poor choices learning opportunities.
@RachelLitLady1 I talk to students about what they’re reading. It’s a great opportunity to let kids talk about their personal reading or to help students find a books they enjoy.

Incredible LVHS AP Fact #3, we had more students receive a 3+ on their AP English Literature Test than took it last year. That is right 19 of the 35 that took it earned a 3 or better while last year only 7 of the 17 that took the course were able to say that!
