@kalanisworld1 I didn’t hear anything from my guests specifically about COVID anxiety connected to eco-anxiety but I definitely think there’s some type of connection! I think exploring that topic would be super interesting #POEcap
@michaela490 I wanted to find guests with differing professions, so once I narrowed down what I wanted, I began looking for people that fit that description with help from my site supervisors and faculty advisor! And then definitely keeping the space calm and easy to understand was key
@CaseyGilson490 I didn’t look particularly at age groups in my research but that’s something that further research should explore! I do think that maintaining an open space is important in all age ranges though #POEcap
@Nicole_Garces2 Definitely! I think that more voices always adds more perspective to a topic! I’m sure it would be very beneficial to hear from other professions as well!
@tiffanyshin6 Thank you! I wanted to make all questions easy for all listeners to understand so I kept them fairly simple by focusing mainly on my research question and iterations of it. The conversation flowed well after and then I’d ask other relevant questions #POEcap
@tiffanyshin6 I definitely think climate change should be added to school curriculums! I think that knowing about the problem and showing kids avenues towards activism is a great way to fight climate change
@Mia_LawsonHenze I had a little podcast experience in #ENVIR302 but I learned a lot throughout my time interning. Definitely making sure the audio levels stay consistent and to make sure the speed is at a good pace is key #POEcap
@amyvelascoUW Thanks for checking it out! I actually only did 6 of them, the rest were from other student hosts! But they are all wonderful episodes :)
(6/6) These results can help motivate changes in schools to better support children; teachers should be trained on how to foster open spaces. Changes like this ideally will increase participation in activism without increasing climate anxiety. #ENVIR492#POEcap
(5/6) To alleviate eco-anxiety, my guests suggest finding like minded individuals who have similar feelings regarding climate change and to focus on the bigger picture. I’ve attached four quotes that showcase some of these results #ENVIR492#POEcap
(4/6) Based on these interviews I gathered results for how to educate students on environmental issues: reframe education to create spaces of inquiry, teachers should practice transparency with students, implement generational thinking #ENVIR492#POEcap
(3/6) To explore this topic I worked with UW Bothell/Cascadia College on their Common Caws Podcast where I created 6 episodes, 4 of which were with guests, and conducted a literature review #ENVIR492#POEcap https://t.co/aF4sDtELGb
(2/6) I posed the question ‘How can we improve environmental education to motivate students to engage in activism while limiting climate anxiety?’ #ENVIR492#POEcap
(1/6) My #POEcap internship focused on the connection between climate anxiety, environmental education, and activism. Increasing participation in climate activism is critical to fight climate change. #ENVIR492
