For many of us who have been around - this was when Britain changed for the worse and has never quite recovered . All the things the generation after WW1 and post world War 2 started to be taken away
Oh to have political leadership - anything @MichealMartinTD or @SimonHarrisTD, any hope on offer?

Brian Eno is one of more than 100 millionaires asking Andy Burnham to tax them more.
A 2% tax on people worth over £10m could raise £24bn a year for Britain - and this is an idea that 80% of UK-based millionaires support, according to Patriotic Millionaires UK.
“We can see how disaffected people are by the way politics is going. We can see why people are looking for desperate solutions and why they’re being driven to extremes,” musician and songwriter Eno told Sky News.
"It's because they realise the cards are stacked against them and in favour of the rich. So some of the rich are saying, the cards don’t have to be stacked that way. We want to pay more tax. We want things to be more equal."
The security we actually want is the security of a decent job and a place to live, to be able to get better when we're sick, not to get poorer every year, for our children to have a future. Normal, natural things to want.
But that's all contemptuous, eye-rolling "magic money" stuff to a Tánaiste whose government is blowing 100,000,000s of our "real" euros on a hysterical European "defence spending" spree nobody asked for except "our" (their) "European partners," all to placate the global rich.
The hosepipe ban is a useful window into how Ireland actually works.
Rich shareholders, who own assets like data centres and golf courses, and who pay a vanishingly small percentage of tax, are exempt from the ban.
Meanwhile working people, many of whom pay an effective tax rate of above 50%, can’t use a hose; can be fined €5,000; and are encouraged to turn on their own neighbours.
The selective hosepipe ban suggests Ireland in 2026 exists more so for the unequal benefit of domestic and international elites.
Ireland should, however, exist for the equal benefit of all its citizens.
We need answers from Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) about water usage in data centres.
Nobody knows or even seems to want to know how much water is being used by these energy-guzzling data centres.
We need a ban on any more data centres.

If you haven't spoken up for peace in Ukraine and diplomacy with Russia before now, now is the time to do it.
If you're afraid, I get it. To speak against war is always to confront powerful forces who will mobilise all their resources to try and make you stay silent. We've seen this already over the past four years. It will get worse.
Nobody is coming to save us from disaster if we don't act. Stopping the escalation towards an all-out European war is up to all of us. If we don't speak, if we don't act, it's our children, our homes, our lives, our heritage, that will be destroyed.
Contact your politicians. Take to the streets. Organise. The destruction of everything we hold dear will only happen if we let it.
The Irish Times naturally doesn't reveal O'Sullivan's affiliation in her anti-neutrality piece today. She's the director of a defence thinktank, Security Ireland. Amongst other things, it advises investors on 'opportunities' to be had in the EU's €800bn arms industry bonanza.
🇺🇸🇨🇳 Jimmy Dore says China is better than the USA:
"In China, the government sits above capital. The economy works for the people. Here, capital sits above government. The economy works for billionaires."
Claudia Sheinbaum has approval ratings of between 70 and 80%, thanks to her progressive policies which have lifted over 8 million people out of poverty.
So of course the @NYTimes finds some reason to attack her.
They hate her because she shows what can be done.
🇮🇪 A football commentator in Australia would be hung and quartered for daring this. US, UK and many other nations too. All power to you Richard Sadlier 💚 #FreePalestine#BDS 🇵🇸
We absolutely love to see it! Tonight fans interrupted the first half of Ireland's friendly against Qatar in the Aviva Stadium twice, throwing tennis balls with Palestinian flags on them onto the pitch. A #StopTheGame banner was hung, there were chants of "stop the game"
