For the first time, the Welsh seat on Labour’s NEC is to be voted on by members, a democratic reform introduced by @MarkDrakeford.
WLG trusts the current seat-holder @MickAntoniw1 to continue being the members’ voice for party democracy and socialist policies.

@KevinPascoe@WelshLabour@WLGrassroots @darrenw_cardiff The CLPs involved in the #OMOV campaign will be meeting again next weekend to discuss Phase Two. Several CLPs have discussed CLP responses, including Cardiff West which met last weekend. We’d encourage you to contact your CLP Secretary.
@kevster100965 @KevinPascoe @mark4leader @WelshLabour Sorry, the campaign can’t respond for the party. If you are an affiliate member, but not an LP member, if your union has your email, you’ll get an email ballot; if not paper. Probably best to ask your union in the first instance to check the timescale.
Great to see so many members voting in the @WelshLabour leadership election. It is worth remembering that this election is the first in which everyone’s vote counts the same, thanks to the #OMOV campaign.
Pleased to announce that @WelshLabour Special Conference has just voted in favour of #OMOV, 64.1% to 35.9%. Overwhelming majority of CLPs chose #OMOV, supported by many affiliates. Well done to all! Da iawn bawb!!
It’s Democracy Day! Delegates from all over Wales are descending on Cardiff for the @WelshLabour Special Conference. Between #OMOV and a reformed electoral college (where some votes would still be worth more than others), we know which one we’re voting for!
Tomorrow sees the @WelshLabour Special Conference, when we will decide how our next leader will be elected. The members and many affiliates, including @UniteWales are very clear- #OMOV is the fairest, simplest system and must be adopted tomorrow.
Absolute pleasure to attend the meeting of CLPs in Llandrindod today to discuss the delivery of #OMOV. One more heave at Special Conference next week and @WelshLabour will achieve a modern democratic system for leadership selection fit for the future.
Hearing that both #OMOV and a reformed electoral college are to be put to Special Conference, with the @WelshLabour Executive Committee recommending the reforms college (despite 33/40 CLPs voting for #OMOV in the consultation, alongside @UniteWales)
@AdamMarkDavis That would be OMOV Adam. However, a reformed college is without the elected representatives, but still with weighting: 50:50 members and affiliates. Using dep. leadership figures, 150,000 affiliates would have the same weight as 25,000 party members.
Today is a very important stage in the campaign. The @WelshLabour Executive Committee have the chance to offer two outcomes to Special Conference, one of which is #OMOV. To choose to offer an electoral college only will just re-start the battle, not end it.
2/2 @UniteWales supports #OMOV, as do several socialist societies. It’s clear what the membership wants. It’s also clear that only #OMOV will conclude this debate in the long-term. If the college is adopted, however revised, the campaign will continue.
1/2 Today is the submission deadline for Part One of @WelshLabour Democracy Review. 26 confirmed CLP submissions for #OMOV, 33/40 CLPs have voted for #OMOV at meetings. Only 2 confirmed CLP submissions for the Electoral College.
11 Welsh CLPs have already sent in pro-#OMOV submissions to the @WelshLabour consultation, with more meeting this week. Don’t forget that the deadline is 31st July!
