Today we unanimously passed this motion:
To call under Rule 16.11 for a Special Higher Education Sector Conference to be called to debate and direct the future of our disputes. Notice for this SHESC should be issued as soon as the number of branches requesting it reaches twenty
🚨🧵
Last week our ballot on this offer closed. Our members accepted the offer by a majority of 68% to 32%.
This closes our 22/23 pay and conditions dispute, and brings to an end the first ever strike in an outsourced Higher Education provider in the UK.

Why is the Principal implying that the imposition of a real-terms pay cut has been "nationally-agreed" and "finalised"? There are strikes and a further industrial action ballot over this very issue.
UCEA would tell you that they're not breaking the period of calm because they're not implementing the uplift until after March 5th.
However, everybody else would tell you that's completely dishonest - our members are not stupid, they know bad faith when they see it.
We go back to work on Monday.
Not today, not tomorrow - Monday.
Please do not burn yourself out by grafting all weekend following the latest communication. It's been a hard slog, so make sure you let yourself rest.
Don't overwork for the bosses; they won't thank you.
The Pause, and UCU decision-making: I wrote about rules, policy, procedure, and experience here - and my take on decision-making around the pause to strike action.

I see the University of Leeds has come out with a 100% pay dock threat for Action Short of a Strike. They have surrounded it with vague conditions around deadlines and priorities, but, there you go; one of the most extreme pay dock threats in the University's history.
Never go full @QMUL.
VCs, you *know* this is an attack on the #RightToStrike asit stifles participation. You *know* it creates disruption for students as staff has no choice but to push back, as this is a dangerous precedent. Why are you so willing to show yourself uncaring?
Today, staff at @UniversityLeeds were threatened w 100% deductions if we fail to prioritise rescheduling teaching. This is an aggressive escalation by senior management. We call upon them to prioritise reaching a settlement in the disputes so we can get back to work. #ucuRISING
"They’re [lecturers] not being listened to, the students aren’t benefiting but the people who are being paid such high amounts aren’t responding."
Students in Leeds tell @cathynewman why they support their teachers going on strike.

As strikes are imminent, we know many members, especially GTAs, are nervous about losing pay. If you are one of those members, this thread is for you. The bottom line is you do not need to lose pay!
Both the national and local fund is here for you.

We just found out that our domestic assistants are no longer allowed A CUP OF TEA! Not even if they carry it along when on duty. Always rushed off their feet prepping teaching spaces on 4hr shifts for £10.90hr and can't even have a cuppa? Disgusting.
