I think they were on to something... 😅

Looking for free RV camping while traveling through Texas?

I put together a list of 17 locations across the state where RVers can stay for free and still have electric and water on site. Several of these spots even offer full hookups, which is rare to find without a nightly fee.

If you’re planning a route through Texas or just want to bookmark some backup stops, this list is worth having handy. 👇

Don’t let all your plans together start with “someday.”

Make time for dinner, a new campground, or a few hours by the water. Some days, all you need are two chairs, a cooler, and nowhere else you have to be.

The to-do list can wait an afternoon. ❤️

Sometimes you want to sit in the pool without the screaming, splashing, or kids running past you every five seconds.

That is where adult-only pools come in.

These parks set aside a pool just for adults, many of them with swim-up bars or quieter seating areas.

If you like traveling as a couple, or you camp with family but still want a calmer place to relax, this list makes trip planning easier.

RVers: What did you replace your cheap factory couch with?

[CamperFAQs @CamperFaqs]

I love that part! 🔥❤️

Just because your truck can tow it doesn’t always mean it’s the best idea.

Many experienced RVers follow something called the 80% towing rule.

It’s not a legal requirement, and it’s not the whole story when it comes to safe towing.

But it’s a guideline a lot of experienced RVers use as a safety buffer.

I broke down how the rule works and what else you should check for safer towing.

Lakefront RV camping in Missouri for $10/night?!

Yes, it's possible!

I just put together a new guide featuring 10 waterfront RV campgrounds across Missouri for $26 or less, all with electric and water hookups.

Even better, some of these sites drop to around $10 a night with an America the Beautiful Senior Pass.

Check out these hidden gems: https://t.co/WF8VGQGTxk

Cottonwood Point Campground on Marion Reservoir in Kansas. Electric and water hookups, multiple boat ramps, tall cottonwoods lining the shore, and real space between sites.

Regular rate is $19 a night. With the America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass it drops to $9.50.

Lakefront views for as little as $12 a night?!

This particular RV campsite is at Cape Fair Campground in Missouri and features beautiful Table Rock lake views, water/electric hookups, level lots, and much more.

It costs $25/night and drops to just over $12/night with the America the Beautiful Senior Pass.

Some campgrounds will turn you away just because of how old your RV is.

Plenty of RVers assume that can’t be legal. In a lot of cases, it is. Rules on RV age, type, and appearance are more common than most people think.

But there are lines a campground can’t cross, and one owner lost her property after crossing one.

Has a park ever told you your rig was too old?

Full details in the first comment.

This... it just makes everything else feel a little less important. 🔥

A massive parking lot doesn’t help much if you can’t find a space for your RV.

A new Buc-ee’s opening next month will include 15 spaces for RVs and buses. Similar parking appears in several other store plans, too.

Could this help with two familiar complaints: finding somewhere to park the rig and people leaving their vehicles at the pumps while they shop?

We looked into which locations are making room and how widespread this actually is.

After a few trips you figure out what you actually need and what just takes up space.

This list covers the gear that experienced RVers swear by, the stuff that makes hookups faster, setups smoother, and problems easier to handle when they come up.

Some of it you might already have. A few things might genuinely surprise you.

It's gonna be a wild night 🔥😅

You've seen those "oceanfront" RV campgrounds that turn out to be a giant paved lot with a sliver of water view if you stand on your roof. This list is not that.

These are West Coast campgrounds where the ocean is actually part of the experience.

Bluff tops, open dunes, coastal trees, and real shoreline views right from your site. Southern California all the way up to Washington.

Waterfront RV camping for $34… or as low as $12 a night?

📌Save this one

It sounds like a typo, but there are actually several lakeside campgrounds in Mississippi where you can camp right on the water with hookups for $34 or less.

Even better, if you have the America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass, some sites drop to around $12 per night.

I found 8 waterfront campgrounds that fit the bill.

Sun Outdoors New Orleans North Shore sits on a lake just north of New Orleans. There is a lazy river with a tiki bar inside it, an adults only swim-up pool bar, lake activities, and live events.

Here is Sam's Club's "official policy" on RV overnight parking, along with etiquette rules, safety tips, and alternatives if you get turned away! 👇

[CamperFAQs @CamperFaqs]

The store manager said you could stay overnight. Local law could still make it illegal.

Some cities prohibit sleeping in an RV in business parking lots, even with permission. Others allow it, but with conditions.

Several communities updated their parking and camping rules in 2026. We checked the ordinances and council decisions to see what changed, which cities already restrict overnight stops, and where a business owner’s permission still counts.

Before you count on that next free overnight stop, take a look.
