Congratulations to all Members of Parliament elected on Monday. The Canadian Biogas Association looks forward to working with the new Liberal government and MPs from across Canada to realize the ability of biogas & RNG to boost clean energy production, reduce emissions across industries, and help farmers and municipalities put organic waste to work.
The CBA applauds all candidates who put their name forward in the election, and stands ready to partner with those elected to advance our shared priorities of unlocking Canada’s biogas & RNG potential. We are eager to work with the new government, particularly to ensure promises to reduce Canada’s reliance on imported clean fuels are realized through concrete measures to attract investments in biogas & RNG development here at home.

Biogas offers significant opportunities for Canadian farmers. Investing in a biogas system can lead to both environmental and business advantages for a farm operation.
We invite you to meet some of the farmers fueling Canada's clean energy sector! The video below features Chris Perry from GrowTEC, a fourth-generation farmer located in Alberta. They introduced anaerobic digestion to their farm to:
✔️divert waste,
✔️produce energy, and
✔️become more environmentally and financially sound.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles have been on the roads for decades – powering the garbage trucks, buses & transport trucks you see every day. Is your community fueling its fleets with RNG from organic waste? We’d love to hear how! 👇
Thank you to the BiogasWorld team for hosting the fantastic #RNGForum! CBA’s Sarah Stadnyk had a wonderful time in Quebec discussing the potential and market direction of Canada’s biogas & RNG industry.

We’d like to congratulate Niagara RNG LP – Walker East & South Landfill Gas to RNG as the 2025 Canadian Biogas Industry Awards – Project of the Year! This award was presented during the Value of Biogas East conference on March 18th and recognizes the facility’s contribution to the biogas industry.
The landfills are now home to Ontario’s largest RNG plant, designed for 950,000 GJ of RNG annually. Additionally, the site sells landfill gas to their neighbour, General Motors, through a dedicated pipeline, who uses it as a fuel in their cogeneration plant. There are also 2 x 1MW landfill gas powered generators at the site, one generating electricity for the grid, the other, used behind the meter. The RNG project rounds out the full portfolio of LFG utilization projects and makes this renewable energy campus a nexus between waste management and the energy transition. Congratulations!
Let Green Gas Count! We know that biogas is better gas and one of the ways to pave the way for to bring more biogas & RNG facilities online is through policy change. The CBA is a proud to support the work of the World Biogas Association (@WBAtweets), The Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (@adbioresources), RNG COALITION (@coalitionforRNG), Eurogas and European Biogas Association (@European_Biogas) in their efforts to include this critical renewable energy in the GHG Protocol.
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) Corporate Standard is an important tool to allow companies to structure their decarbonization efforts, however as it currently stands it is lacking recognition for gaseous fuels such as biogas & RNG. Momentum is growing and there are now more than 200 global organizations that have signed their support.
