Where is the outrage from those who champion women’s rights?

Girls are being denied entry to school in Azerbaijan—a country whose population is approximately 96% Muslim—because they wear the hijab.

Forcing a woman to cover her hair and forcing her to uncover it violates the same principle: her right to decide for herself.

“Remove your hijab or lose your education” is coercion. Calling it secularism does not make it liberation.

This is secular fanaticism, and it can be as oppressive as religious fanaticism. Both give authorities power over women’s bodies and punish those who refuse to comply.

If you defend a woman’s right to remove her hijab, defend her right to wear it. Her freedom cannot depend on whether you approve of her choice.

No girl should have to surrender her conscience at the school gate.

I took action this morning as part of a group of 🇨🇦 citizens to stop the sale of 🇮🇱 settlement properties in Canada.
On behalf of myself and five other complainants, primarily from Palestinian and Jewish communities, Global Echo Litigation Center and Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights (CLAIHR) have filed a complaint with Canada’s Competition Bureau challenging the deceptive marketing of illegal Israeli settlement real estate to Canadian consumers.

This is the first known legal action to use competition law to challenge the marketing of Israeli settlement real estate anywhere in the world. I am grateful we have the ability to do something about this in Canada.
Because of the strong ethical standards in Canadian law, we are able to bring our concerns to the Competition Bureau and demand an inquiry into the actions of the five companies named in our complaint. We are asking the Competition Bureau to look at their actions and determine whether they are representative of a widespread pattern of deceptive marketing of illegal Israeli settlement real estate in Canada.
Now that we’ve filed our complaint, it’s the Competition Bureau’s responsibility to uphold the standards of Canadian law. If the allegations in our complaint are substantiated, then the Competition Bureau needs to take action to protect Canadian consumers and the ethical standards of our marketplace, or risk losing Canadians’ trust.
No company should be allowed to deceive Canadians into breaking the law and violating Palestinians’ rights — or anyone’s rights. Advertising illegal settlement properties in the West Bank as “Israeli” conceals their true location in occupied Palestinian territory and deprives consumers of material information necessary to make informed purchasing decisions.
If the concerns raised in our complaint are not addressed, then Canadian consumers are not only at risk of continuing to be misled about the ethical implications of purchasing Israeli settlement property, but also the potential legal consequences they could face under Canadian and international law.
I am grateful to be able to do what I can as a Canadian citizen to challenge the sale of Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land. I hope you’ll support me by sharing this news and future updates as the case progresses. 🙏

Haya Movement of Canada Endorses Carolyn Parrish for Mayor of Mississauga, October 22, 2026
The Haya Movement of Canada, organizers of the Haya Parade, endorses incumbent Mayor Carolyn Parrish in the October 26 municipal election.
Recent polls show a competitive race among Carolyn Parrish, former Mayor Bonnie Crombie, and Ward 2 Councillor Alvin Tedjo, with support levels close enough that the outcome remains uncertain. In this environment, the Haya Movement argues that votes for candidates outside the leading contenders risk splitting support in ways that could benefit Crombie.
The organization has criticized Crombie’s past positions and associations, which it views as aligned with policies and groups it opposes. While some voters may regard Alvin Tedjo as a strong candidate on certain issues, current surveys consistently place him behind the top two. The Haya Movement suggests that Tedjo could be reconsidered in a future contest if he remains active in municipal politics.
The group’s endorsement is based on its priorities of family values, parental rights, and opposition to certain social and educational policies. Voters are encouraged to review the candidates’ records and platforms before casting ballots on October 26.
