New Methods of Displacement were invented to acquire land such as:

Numbered Treaties:
The Canadian government signed treaties with First Nations to clear land for settlement and resource extraction, often promising reserves and rights that were poorly honored.

The Reserve System:
Officials relocated First Nations to small, often isolated parcels of land while opening vast traditional territories to European homesteaders.

The Pass System:
The government restricted First Nations individuals from leaving reserves without a pass, preventing them from accessing their traditional lands and economies.

Enfranchisement Policies:
The Indian Act forced or pressured First Nations to give up their legal status in exchange for land parcels, systematically dismantling collective land ownership.
