@RobertElms Walkers Shot Tower - lead manufacturers there until about 1930s. The lead shit somehow formed when melted lead was dropped down from a great height, thus the need for a tall tower. They also made lead sheets and pipes.

@Runa_Kanom@Mr_S_Cains Of course, but one of the points being made is that the demands made by this particular inspection regime cannot be met in a primary school during this particular week without causing serious damage to staff and child wellbeing
@Bishnu_Carter@Mr_S_Cains Yes, but in a Primary there are no invigilators, no free periods, rarely any cover. That's why SATs week visits are inappropriate.
@thecraftyant@Mr_S_Cains I'm sorry. Not sure why the key word is 'professionals'. Would you care to unpack or are you worried about unleashing an avalanche of wrath?
@Jonny2284 @Mr_S_Cains It's having often non expert subject leaders (in primary) put through the mill on top of a day's teaching because there is often no such thing as someone to cover a class... So little understanding outside the profession of what a visit means.
@Jonny2284 @Mr_S_Cains It's not putting on a show. It's having reams and reams of info available at the drop of a hat, it's spending time going through all this with a not necessarily terribly receptive lay person who is there to tick boxes. 1/2
