🇵🇭 This Is Why We Stay:
A ❤️ Love Letter to the Philippines
I was raised in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro—educated in its rural schools, shaped by its quiet strength. My wife Marge is from Solano, Nueva Vizcaya. We chased our dreams and met as seatmates in UST Medicine, during one of the most tumultuous chapters in our nation’s history. We witnessed the EDSA Revolution. We built our family anchored on hope, forged through hard work and shared purpose.
Forty years ago, we drove a dictator out of the country. Today, we find ourselves under the leadership of his son, who calls for decency—“mahiya naman kayo”—while approving a bloated budget that fuels corruption in flood control projects. History echoes, but so does our resolve.
And still, we stay.
Even as some of our loved ones dream of leaving, seeking greener pastures abroad, we remain. We do not stand in the way of their success—we bless it. Memento mori. We know our time will pass, and we want them to win in their chosen paths. But for now, we choose to stay. Because this land, imperfect as it is, is still ours.
We love our country not because it is perfect, but because it is ours.
We love it despite the corruption that stains our institutions—because the soul of the nation is not found in its politics, but in its people. In the quiet dignity of farmers, the resilience of nurses abroad, the laughter of children playing in flooded streets. We love it because it is home.
We love it despite the daily bickering, the noise of division on social media—because beneath the clamor lies a shared longing: to be heard, to be healed, to belong. We are a family still learning how to speak truth with grace.
We love this country even as it is battered by typhoons, earthquakes, and fire—because we have seen it rise again and again. Our land may break, but our spirit does not.
We love the Philippines because our heroes once did. Because they believed in a future worth dying for. Because we carry their blood, their dreams, their unfinished fight.
We are a nation of heroes—not just those etched in history books, but those who rise quietly each day: the teacher who stays late, the janitor who prays for his children, the doctor who speaks truth to power. Our greatness lies in our capacity to care.
We can rise above our problems if we show genuine care for our people. Going back to the basic principle of service—of putting others before self—can rekindle the flame of nationhood. It is in service that we remember who we are.
Patriotism is not blind loyalty—it is stubborn hope. It is choosing to stay, to speak, to serve, even when it hurts. It is believing that we are still capable of greatness.
We must not stop.
We must step up.
Who knows—perhaps God and our true heroes are watching, waiting for us to rise.

#RewindMMFF movie review by SIR Alsoufi
After watching REWIND with my wife, I have realized the following:
1.) Forgive
-Always choose to forgive. Hindi dapat ipa-iral ang ego. Learn to forgive even though hindi ikaw ang may kasalanan.
2.) Quality Time
-Family first. Always have quality time with your wife and children. Once na nag asawa ka na. Always prioritize your family more than your work/career and friends.
3.) Balance work and life.
-Maintain your career and life. Do not overwork because you are replaceable.
4.) Prepare for Death at all times
-Death is around the corner. You will never know when is your time. When time is over, no turning back.
5.) Accept Destiny.
-You cannot change what has destined to you. You cannot undo. Life is touch moved.
6.) Appreciate your wife, she is a gfit from God.
-Being a real man is treating your wife nice. As Prophet Mohammad Said. "The best of you are they who behave best to their wives."

Wisdom doesn’t come from experience. It comes from reflecting on experience.
Between ages 25 and 75, the correlation between age and wisdom is zero.
Gaining insight and perspective is not about the number of years you've lived. It's about the number of lessons you've learned.
I love the #Skyfam because Scottie is cute in his conversation with Mom @kryzzzie Uy and Shoti is so adorable and can respond to his Mom's conversation. I love #KryzUy's hands on care with her boys.
