A momentous occasion that marks a real change in our understanding of the Jewish story in York. We're so proud of our own Dr Louise Hampson for her contributions to this incredible piece of York history.
Today we had the honour of welcoming ‘King Henry VIII’ at Exeter Cathedral. ‘King Henry’ processed from Exeter Guildhall with his entourage towards the Cathedral and was greeted with ceremonial Tudor music performed by Exeter University Chapel Choir, and His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornetts. The visit was part of Historic Royal Palaces’ ‘Henry VIII on Tour’.

Henry’s riding chapel is on tour! @HenryVIIIonTour. Here’s a section of Taverner’s Western Wind Gloria, ahead of this afternoon’s Lady Mass, recreating Henry’s visits on Royal Progress to Christchurch Priory, Dorset.
Today, the #HenryonTour team visited Acton Court, near Bristol, where Henry and Anne possibly stayed in August, 1535. Such a beautiful building! The only wing surviving is the one thrown up in a few months for the progress. Just look at the frieze 😩

This week Kirsty from @HenryVIIIonTour told us how she's tracking the movements of Henry VIII's queens round the countryside by recording all the places where milk was purchased for their greyhounds to drink.

It was blowing a gale here today in Orkney, but we still captured some excellent 3D scans of the Neolithic archaeology being uncovered at the @NessofBrodgar excavation! These 5000 year old structures contain stones with fine incised details that our scanners were able to pick up.
Why was Henry VIII in York in 1541? Why is a glazier found in a cart of stained glass? You can find out about both at @YorkTheatre's production of Sovereign at King's Manor, and be sure to pick up a programme!
