Tzolis has Martinelli’s speed but is most similar to Trossard profile-wise.

Very technical, two-footed, strikes through the ball, can create separation to use both feet, can receive inside the pitch, excellent in tight spaces, great eye for a pass, immaculate first touch, technically secure, low centre of gravity, huge involvement in games because he is a mentality monster, works his ass off defensively… you can see why he’s similar to Trossard.

The main difference is how he bursts into space after passing. I am not comparing the two because Messi is on a different planet, but him and Tzolis have the same trait of passing and then bursting into space. That’s why he scores so many goals. His acceleration off the mark is superb (even if he struggles to maintain that speed over long distances) and he never stops running without the ball. He has pausa with the ball at his feet and aggression without it. Tzolis combines in and around the box with immaculate technical detail and dynamism in tight spaces but can also accelerate free into open space in transitional moments. That’s what clears him from Trossard. Wonderful footballer.

Albeit not an elite player… but look how important Trossard was to last season’s title win. Tzolis is that except even better. He will start more often than not because of how reliable he is in all contexts. Arteta will love him. Eze will need to match his reliability to consistently start. Need more from him next season. He should be the guy starting on the left (even if Tzolis is top, top).

Arsenal just need to make sure they sign a true star in attack on top of Tzolis. He raises the level, but he is not a game-changer ala Rogers.

A front 4 of Tzolis, Ødegaard, Gyökeres, and Saka is very underwhelming.

A front 4 of Tzolis, Rogers, Gyökeres, and Saka is special, especially with the option to pick Eze, Madueke, Havertz, and Martinelli too.

Notice how I left Ødegaard out of the second framework… #8 or bust for him. Arsenal’s attack will almost always be sub-elite if he is the #10. Can only be made up for if the front 3 is something like Saka, Havertz, Barcola - the PSG blueprint, but there’s no need to handicap yourself with an #8 in the #10. Havertz, Rogers, Eze, and Tzolis are all better #10’s than Ødegaard. Tzolis plays there for Greece and he’s a natural. Also reliable enough to lead the press, although his primary use will come off the left.

I also want to se Rice in the #6 next season. Not the #8. He plays below the ball too much in the #8. He doesn’t play between the lines or attack the box from deep enough. Arteta has lots of internal solutions to improve Arsenal’s offensive issues, starting with Rice #6, Ødegaard #8, Rogers #10… ✌️
