Our Origin

Core team is previously from Kraken, Consensys, MetaMask, and Axelar with experience in building aggregation systems, DeFi infra, and cross-chain communication infra

Cadence got its start as the 1st place in the COH hackathon

And since our beginning, we set out to solve two critical issues in crypto:

1. Liquidity fragmentation across DeFi
2. UX/UI issues in crypto

We began researching and developing an omni-chain perpetuals platform utilizing cross-chain communication protocols

After long talks with their teams, we discovered that the execution speed was never fast enough, especially for perpetuals where the speed of trade execution is critical

So, we dove deeper and found that the only way to enhance execution speed, enabling protocols to execute amongst each other and take crypto into a hyper-efficient market, was to flip it around and optimistically execute for the user and validate afterward

This led to the advent of the first system that enables an easy, cost-effective, and seamless trading experience in crypto by eliminating the need to bridge assets, switch chains, sign multiple transactions, and much more

Enter Cadence Perpetuals and Symphony

Here is our 5 step endgame plan to bring this future to market

🚀 Step 1: Strategic Fundraising

Our First Act -> Secure Strategic Partnerships and Liquidity

These included some of the most innovative minds, such as Scott Lewis, the co-founders of Zellic, the former COO of Akash Network, the co-founder of Biconomy, and a number of other strategic partners, including the Google Cloud Web3 Accelerator

Following this, we held a successful LBP (Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool) to bootstrap liquidity for Mainnet, raising $4.2M with over 2,547 early community supporters to join us on our journey

With our strong backing and initial funding, we are poised to enhance our market presence, accelerate development, and propel DeFi and decentralized trading into the future we envision

🥁 Step 2: Cadence Perpetuals (launching February 27th)

Cadence Perpetuals will be the flagship perpetuals protocol on the @CantoPublic blockchain and creates the most capital-efficient use of liquidity by integrating RWAs, LSDs, and CSR

> Users can trade perps on RWAs and use them as collateral

> Unlocks staking of CAD with 100% protocol fee revenue given back to stakers and LPers

> Yield-bearing Cadence Stablecoin backed by RWAs, enhancing revenue and playing into our larger omni-chain plans

> Provides protocol owned liquidity, decreasing the need for user fees on Symphony, enabling a self-sustaining protocol

🎶 Step 3: Cadence Symphony (launching Q3 24')

Symphony is an intent-based perpetuals aggregator that enables a trader to execute any position across any chain at near-instant speed

> Near instantaneous cross-chain trades with our novel optimistic execution model (secured by @LayerZero_labs)

> No chains, no bridging, no complexities around protocol choice

> Trades can be split between separate protocols to allow you to open large position sizes and solve liquidity fragmentation

We began by first targeting the decentralized perpetuals market

Now, built to be general purpose, Symphony will enable execution across all DeFi systems, including RWAs, NFTs, lending/borrowing, swapping, and much more

With Symphony’s scalable and efficient intent-centric system abstracting away all base layer infrastructure, the next billion users can easily use decentralized applications

Approaching the 1.5-year mark since Canto's mainnet launch without any hacks or vulnerabilities, I reflect on my journey contributing to this grassroots project. In a unique experience, devoid of VC funding and launched during a bear market, the challenges of a grassroots chain were evident – limited resources, scaling constraints, and building a community from scratch.

Canto's success lies in a product-first mindset, prioritizing real products to find Product-Market Fit (PMF) and nurturing a culture of growth. In 2023, contributors achieved notable milestones such as Contract-Secured Revenue (CSR), yield-bearing Units of Accounts (UoAs), Real World Assets (RWAs), and monthly hackathons.

Early successes were evident:

RWAs: Canto ranks as the #3 chain by RWA issuance for treasuries.
Hackathons: @CadenceProtocol , a hackathon grand prize winner, successfully launched with a Liquidity Bootstrapping Pool (LBP) and is set for launch on Feb 27th.
CSR: Despite initial resistance, CSR adoption is growing across ecosystems like Optimism, Ethereum, Blast, and more.

As Canto evolves from an "experimental" to a "growth" chain in 2024, key anticipations include:

💾 Tech Innovation: The upcoming #Callisto upgrade makes Canto the first Cosmos-compatible chain to implement v0.50, achieving sub-second block times alongside ongoing research around improved full nodes, <redacted>, <redacted>, and ZK bridging.

🔢 Neofinance (RWAfi) and Tooling: With four live issuers, Note aims to be fully backed by regulated T-bill issuers. Tooling like asD enhances dApps' capabilities to direct native yield and manage protocol treasuries.

🌊 Liquidity Coordinator: Extending L1 emissions beyond CantoDex, akin to NeoFinance, allowing whitelisted protocols to bid for emissions.

👨‍💻 Boosting Hackathons and DevRel: Building on the learnings of 2023, especially the success story of Cadence, to amplify and scale strategies for this year's hackathon initiatives.
