The very center and glory of our town is the beautiful Greek Revival Courthouse. Members of the local Masonic Order laid the cornerstone to the Courthouse in July 1855.

Canton is the birthplace of well-known blues man Elmore James.
He was known as "King of the Slide Guitar" and was noted for his use of loud amplification and his stirring voice. For his contributions to music, James was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992
Titled "Tree Under Which Gen. Sherman Camped, Canton, Miss.", this colorful postcard features a large leafy tree behind a wooden picket fence and a white house with green shutters behind it. The card is addressed to Mr. Clare Wallace in Jacksonville, Florida.
