This war has fallen into an effective stalemate. True, Russia has not mobilized since 2022 (officially at least), but their contract recruitment have been running below their losses for approx the last 5-6 months. The National Wealth Fund is depleting, Oblast recruitment budgets are under severe strain, and Russian logistics are deteriorating under relentless interdiction.

See spiraling fuel shortages in Crimea and Donetsk. The 2026 offensive has stalled out with none of its objectives achieved, and Ukraine has rolled them back in certain sectors.

The current tempo of operations has become unsustainable for the Russians, and unless they come up with some solutions soon, their offensive capacity will be completely exhausted within months.

Russia is not winning this stage of the war. Unless they adapt or change strategies on a fundamental level, they won't be winning the next phase either.

What peace deal? There is no peace deal on the table. Four years ago, there was framework on peace negotiations about to be agreed to until the Russians massacred civilians in Bucha and Irpin, and shelling fleeing civilians in an agreed safe corridor from Mariupol.

Deals with Russia aren't worth the paper they're written on.
