EXCLUSIVE: There are no official plans for “Futurama” to return as a regular series after its Season 14 revival, but creator Matt Groening says “we’ve come to an end many times before” and still found new ways to return:

“They can put us in a coffin. They can nail the lid shut, but they can’t bury us. We will rise again,” creator Matt Groening tells Variety. “We’ve been in this situation many times before. We have lots more stories to tell. The animators and the actors and the writers all would love to do more stories and we’ll see. You never know.”

In the meantime, Hulu will release three “Futurama” specials (dubbed “XXXL-Sized”), kicking off in 2027 with a Christmas-related installment.

Eternally Yours comes from Ghosts showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who finally get to bring their vampire comedy to life more than a decade after first pitching it to CBS. The series follows a married couple of vampires who have been together for 500 years, their adopted daughter, and the human she’s fallen for.

It’s not quite as effortlessly charming as Ghosts just yet, but the pilot has plenty of laughs, strong chemistry, and enough potential to make Eternally Yours a worthy companion series.

Eternally Yours premieres October 8 on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
