Cap Religion & Phil

Religion and Philosophy at Capital University offers four majors in religion, philosophy, and ministry studies. Join the conversation!

[Cap Religion & Phil @CapURelPhil]

Our department faculty commit to implementing @Capital_U's existing Diversity and Inclusion Plan. Department chair @sallystamper invites messages of concern about any of our courses or classes. Stay #CapFamConnected as we work to make our university a better and safer space. 💜

[Sally Stamper @sallystamper]

Outside majors/minors, Religion & Philosophy faculty teach all of our @Capital_U undergraduates, some of them twice (UC 170/470/220). We must teach every student with integrity and dignity. Please message me if you have any concerns about our courses or classes. #CapFamConnect 💜

[Cap Religion & Phil @CapURelPhil]

Watch here and on our department Facebook page for additional statements from department chair Prof. @sallystamper.

[Sally Stamper @sallystamper]

I will write our students & make more social media posts by Friday. For now: on behalf of Religion & Philosophy @Capital_U, I apologize for failing to support our students & alums of color, & I commit w/ the College faculty to implementing our existing Diversity & Inclusion Plan.

[Cap Religion & Phil @CapURelPhil]

This.

[I'm on BlueSky now @athenakugblenu]

Please read happy Black books too. We don't just write about slavery and colonialism. Consume Black history and art about anything. It all helps to decenter whiteness

[Miroslav Volf @MiroslavVolf]

A new low in the long tradition of abusing religion for political gain: Trump teargassing peaceful protesters so he can pose before a historic church he doesn't attend holding Bible he neither reads nor intends to obey! Why are many of us who love Bible / church so easily duped?

[Cap Religion & Phil @CapURelPhil]

A comment from Presiding Bishop Eaton.

[Bishop Eaton @ELCABishopEaton]

The president used federal troops to clear a path through peaceful protesters in order to stand before an Episcopal church make a statement and hold up a bible. Neither the priest nor the bishop were consulted or warned. Not only was this manipulative it was desecration.

[Cap Religion & Phil @CapURelPhil]

Prof Stamper comments on the need for allies to commit for the long haul.

[Sally Stamper @sallystamper]

Being an ally is a long-term commitment - and it means we do not determine when it's time for the group with whom we hope to ally will "move on." #CapFamConnected means all of us or it means nothing. 💜 https://t.co/DAH2A3kQzD

Looking forward to getting to know and working with @Capital_U interim president David Kaufman. Appreciate his taking time last evening to meet with students who are concerned about how our campus community responds to race and social injustice. #CapFamConnected

Joy abounds as we continue to celebrate our @Capital_U Class of 2019 grads!

[Sally Stamper @sallystamper]

Love this snap of four religion majors at commencement. @CapURelPhil grads: send us your photos! (The rain dampened the number of candids that we have on hand.) And if you're an incoming @Capital_U student, ✔️out our department offerings when you're choosing an FYS and electives!

[Cap Religion & Phil @CapURelPhil]

Looking forward to updates from the journey! Safe travels to the @Capital_U folks headed to the 75th commemoration of D-Day.

[Sally Stamper @sallystamper]

Final countdown to our #CapUDDay75 departure Saturday with seven @Capital_U students, alums, & faculty. We'll be using a booklet of poetry, prose, & memories, along with the names of WW II veterans remembered by the Cap U community. Follow us on Facebook and watch for posts here!
