Points de langue et de civilisation vus pendant nos cours. Just so you know, we only speak English here! Correct my students’ errors if you can #youretheteacher
Good luck to all #CAPESinterne candidates who still need to take the exam! How about the lucky few who are already done… how did it go?

On this #LiveMockExam we talked about the importance of stating some elements really clearly and slowly - such as your lesson’s "problématique" or your final task’s instructions. These are major points that the jury will be writing down as you dictate.
On today’s #clubhelpline we talked about the major elements to have in mind before the #CAPESanglais : we summarized the books and movies on the #LLCEanglais curriculum, recalled the main US Supreme Court decisions and main Amendments… and much more!
It’s always a good idea to keep posted about the news when you’re preparing an exam - especially #CAPESexterne and #CAPESinterne which are extremely selective. A good way to stand out among the other hundreds of candidates 🤓
We also discussed major events that have happened since 2021 and this lead to some points about #Americancivilization such as : Bill Clinton’s two least progressive policies (Don’t ask don’t tell - Three strikes you’re out),
Nixon and Reagan’s war on drugs and its impact on African American communities and legacy in today’s America.
On a very different note we discussed Naomi Osaka and Simone Biles withdrawals from competitions and how it raised the question of mental health in sports.
Was she used as an instrument to win the vote? Is she a bit too progressive for post-Trump America and was she considered dispensable after Biden’s election?

On today’s #clubhelpline we mentioned the polarization of American society embodied by Trump : how the American society is increasingly divided and Trump´s election was the embodiment / representation / illustration / epitome of this tendency.
A lot of his voters actually voted for her - she was omnipresent at the end of the campaign and helped make a difference… but since then she has been called the “Miraculously vanishing Vice President” (with a phrase sounding like the name of a magic show!).
We also talked about the British Crown’s line of succession, and how Prince George (aged 8) and his siblings come higher up on the list than Prince Andrew, in spite of the latter being the Queen’s second son. #clubhelpline#royalfamily
Currently correcting my students’ oral expression exercises for the second part of the #CAPESanglais interne exam.
One of them uses a nice phrase when she is about to conclude : “Bearing all this in mind, it seems [insert adj] that…”.
Elegant isn’t it?

After her uncle abdicated and her father unexpectedly and grudgingly (?) became King then died 16 years later, she was crowned at only 25 years old - 70 years ago.
