@DMPR_ZA What's the current status on the GTL-plant in Mossel Bay? What's the status on the related offshore gas condensate in Block 11B/12B? Still no governmental approval to relief the fuel burden on the nation? Our neighbour Namibia is progressing. We are standing still. Why is that?
@DMPR_ZA@GovernmentZA We need the bureaucracy to speed up the process to bring our domestic already proven offshore hydrocarbons to production. Years are passing us by just waiting for the approval from S.A. authorities.
@DMPR_ZA Why not bring up the offshore sources of fuel? While those sources are laying there, South Africans have to pay more for their daily needs. When is enough? What is the government waiting for? The years are passing us by.
@DMPR_ZA How come the government and its authorities are not using any emergency measures to give the green light for the remaining partner to bring South Africa its much needed domestic energy supply?
@DMPR_ZA South Africa could soon have had its domestic supply of liquid petroleum from TotalEnergies Block 11B/12B, if only the state owned entity could have agreed on a fair price for the gas condensate. TotalEnergies withdrew. And South Africans are left with sky rocketing prices.
@GwedeMantashe1@SasolSA We have our domestic resources. Let's get them into production. This will ease the burden on the citizenry and bring jobs and revenues. The years are passing us by. Each day is a lost opportunity. Let's get going. Now.
In the Outeniqua Basin, Africa Energy Corp is accelerating development of the Brulpadda & Luiperd discoveries. Onshore, the Virginia Gas Project in the Free State has reported 60% increase in gas throughput since 2025 & maintains an 80% drilling success rate.
That’s right-dump it on the mines again. As the ANC has wasted all the massive revenues that accrue to government they try and load more costs onto the functioning private sector. Then they wonder why people don’t want to invest in our mining.
South Africa’s UPRD Act: Can Legal Certainty Revive Major Investment After IOCs’ Exit?
The high‑profile exit of global energy major TotalEnergies from deepwater Blocks 11B/12B and 5/6/7 – home to the Brulpadda and Luiperd gas discoveries – was a significant setback for #SouthAfrica’s plans to use domestic resources to boost energy security and economic growth.
TotalEnergies, together with partners QatarEnergy and CNR International, gave up their stakes after determining that the discoveries could not be commercially developed under the existing market conditions and regulatory framework.
The exits underscored long‑standing industry frustrations with #SouthAfrica’s legal and regulatory environment, widely seen as lacking the clarity and predictability that deepwater investors demand.
That backdrop helps explain the government’s passage of the Upstream Petroleum Resources Development Act (UPRD Act) – a standalone legislative framework designed to replace the petroleum provisions embedded in the old Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act and provide a bespoke upstream regime.

@sa_petroleum@SAYouthEconomic Year after year are passing us by, and still no new production are being brought on in South Africa. Why is that? We are falling behind countries such as Namibia, Mocambique, Nigeria, Norway, Canada, Russia etc. Why is that?
@_sanpc It's been quiet for months from @sanpc What's going on behind the scene? Any updates on when South Africa will get access to domestic offshore gas condensate?
It’s not often that gold rises over $100 in a single day. But $100-day rallies are going to become commonplace as this bull market matures. Soon, gold will notch its first $200-day move. Do not overlook the significance of this warning and what it portends for the U.S. economy.
Major study commissioned by @TheMetalsCo (Nasdaq: $TMC) finds sharp declines in seabed life during deep-sea mining trials in the eastern Pacific, intensifying environmental concerns over proposed nodule harvesting.
