ON THIS DAY IN 2024 🗓️

Oliver Glasner lost at #NFFC 1-0. Winless in the league with only three points, Palace sat in the relegation zone.

He brought silverware and a comfortable mid table finish (53pts) that same season. 🏆

@kalaelizabeth I may actually start playing this through to the end. Never managed to fully immerse myself into the game!

The irony of “you can’t see me” is very fitting as they hide behind their burner accounts

@Andyhod6666 Ahh but there are protesters. It’s just rioting is obviously what you see and read all over media.

[🆁 @CapitalR]

Protesting against the cost of living.. by blaming the Government (and previous ones), is the correct way.

Over here, the vocal minority just blame/target the people who look or sound different to them. Go figure.

Let me explain what’s happening in France. 🇫🇷

For years, students and citizens have felt ignored by a government that has repeatedly failed to listen to them. And now, people have finally reached their breaking point.

This isn’t some petty tantrum. We’re talking about very basic educational inequality and working conditions that a supposedly first-world country should be able to provide. While private institutions may remain largely unaffected, public schools and the students who depend on them continue to bear the consequences.

And with the next presidential election approaching, and the far right playing an increasingly prominent role in france’s politics, frustration is turning into anger, and anger is spilling into the streets.

Do not let the media convince you that this came out of nowhere. This was inevitable.

The actual protestors have manifested incredibly peacefully and have shown the true heart of their country, but as with so many large demonstrations in France, tensions escalate. Police brutality only fuels the fire, while others exploit the chaos as an excuse to vandalize and destroy the cities we love.

I will never condone that destruction. But I can understand where some of that anger comes from. When people feel that their families, their futures, and their most basic needs have been ignored for years, resentment builds up.

It genuinely breaks my heart to see my city burn the way it did yesterday. Paris is my home, and watching it suffer like this is devastating.

But we’ve been talking about actual change for over fifteen years, and I sincerely hope that, this time, someone in power finally listens before things get even worse.

I stand with everyone who has suffered through this chaos, whether they were protesting peacefully, simply trying to get home, or watching their cities being destroyed 😔🖤
