This past winter, we piloted a new boarded rink at Sylvia Holden Park. The site was selected through a review of community options and proved to be quite popular! Thank you to the volunteers who gave their time and energy to keep the rink open with excellent ice this past season.
a heated change room in the pavilion. As a result, future rink operations would require only the set-up and takedown of the rink boards, with little disturbance to the grass.
A new, raised crossing is coming soon to Fifth Avenue and Ralph Street! This new raised crossing will help calm traffic, provide a safe crossing for students going to Mutchmor and Corpus Christi, and help people move around our neighbourhood.

Get ready to make a splash: Wading pools across Ottawa open throughout June! To help keep the summer heat at bay, our office has worked to extend wading pool hours across the city.
We heard your feedback Old Ottawa East - the Main at Greenfield intersection is being adjusted to reduce back ups (it will allow vehicles turning right from Main onto Greenfield to receive a green light at the same time as Greenfield traffic receives a left onto Main).
Some big news for commuters and residents of Capital Ward: Bronson Ave (between Imperial and Findlay) is set to be resurfaced in June after our office requested action. The full underground water/sewer project is years away so a shave and pave is necessary.
This year in Capital Ward, porta-potties are open in Brantwood Park, Brewer Park, Glebe Memorial Park, Kaladar Park, Springhurst Park, Sylvia Holden, and Windsor Park. We’re also extending bathroom hours at the brand new Heron Park Community Building to be open on Fridays. (3/3)
Public parks should be a place for people. And everybody's gotta go! That's why our office has led calls for years to increase public bathroom access across the city. In 2025, we passed a motion securing new city-wide funding for bathrooms... (1/3)
...allowing each and every councillor to either extend hours at existing bathrooms in parks and recreation facilities, or to install porta-potties as needed. (2/3)

It's summertime, and once again this year, you can kick back in select public parks across Ottawa to responsibly enjoy a drink! After a successful pilot last summer, the Alcohol in Parks program is returning again this year starting today, June 1st, until October 31st.
Here in Capital Ward, you can now responsibly enjoy an alcoholic beverage in Brewer Park and the Lansdowne Park apple orchard, with clear rules in place to protect children’s play areas and keep parks safe and welcoming for everyone.
Enjoy! And please, drink responsibly.

In the midst of a market crisis, projects like these are proof that beautiful, affordable, non-market housing is possible. (5/5)

In a world where we so often see ‘paving paradise to put up a parking lot’, in this spot in Capital Ward we're doing the opposite.
New units of not-for-profit housing are being proposed for 574 Bank St., complete with ground-floor commercial units... (1/5)
We will also look to preserve the Glebe entrance sign, the ‘two lions’ at the entrance of the Reliable Parts Shop (which may have an opportunity to locate in the new building) and an original streetcar pole in the vicinity. (4/5)
