A respectable atheist (Christopher Hitchens, for example) knows the Bible incredibly well and can make a coherent argument against it. You apparently cannot.

Well, you finally got one thing right! 👏 👏 A powerful Cause of the universe by itself does not prove that God is the God of the Christian Bible or that He inspired it.

The cosmological argument only establishes that a transcendent, powerful Cause exists.

So here's where you and I have come (and I'm proud of you, sport): we've gone from "Does any God exist" to Which (if any) of the claimed revelations match the evidence...two questions that need two different kinds of evidence, and you're treating the 2nd question as if the 1st argument was meant to answer it. You're making a category error...not a refutation.

If you like we can discuss the historical case for the resurrection of Jesus, the reliability of the original new testament documents, or why what Christianity claims is more coherent than the alternatives. I know you enjoy our time together, so I'm happy to do it...but memeing that the cosmological argument doesn't prove the entirety of Christian belief doesn't make that argument go away.

Also, the insults don't strengthen your position. They simply signal that you're frustrated that you can't seem to come up with an alternative logical explanation for creation.

Since we know the universe was caused by something, whatever caused it must have been very powerful, personal, and have the ability to act within the created universe. That creator being is what we call God.

If God is powerful create and fine tune the universe, It's no problem for Him to inspire a collection of 66 books we know as the Bible, written by 40 authors over about 1400 years on 4 continents, create humans, flood the earth, make it stand still, and make a donkey talk.
