🎬🇵🇭 Two Days on the Set of Sisikat Si Sikat!

Here are two minutes of photos from an unforgettable two days with the cast and crew of the upcoming Filipino comedy Sisikat Si Sikat, written and directed by Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo, the award-winning filmmaker behind Kita Kita.

Filmed in beautiful Ilocos Norte, the movie features Rufa Mae Quinto, Empoy Marquez, Dustin Yu, Thea Astley, Krystel Go, and Jelai Andres.

What started as an invitation for me to take part in a scene turned into an incredible experience for both of us. I had my time in front of the camera, and Adela ended up joining in as an extra — staying on set even longer than I did! 😂🎥

These photos are just a glimpse of the people, locations, cameras, long hours, laughs, and hard work that go into making a movie. We came away with a whole new appreciation for the cast and especially the crew working behind the scenes.

Thank you to Director Sigrid Bernardo, Talent Coordinator Jerry del Rosario, and the entire Sisikat Si Sikat cast and crew for welcoming Capt Jim & Adela and allowing us to be a small part of the adventure.

In the middle of a livestream, we had to take care of some urgent business—the business of relaxing! 😎

After picking fresh rambutan at Sintang’s Farm, we spotted some nipa huts across the road along the river. The crystal-clear, cool water was simply too inviting, so we couldn’t resist taking a dip. Another beautiful day and unexpected adventure in Adams, Ilocos Norte!

We thought our movie scene had been scrubbed, so after touring the fruit farms of Adams and swimming in a chilly, crystal-clear river, we headed toward 18 Degrees North (90 minutes south0, where we had camping reservations.

While enjoying lunch, Jerry, the Talent Coordinator contacted me—the shoot was back on for 4:00 p.m.! We quickly finished eating and drove back, arriving at 3:30.

We remained on set from 3:30 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. I completed my scene, and then Adela joined the filming as an extra. She was part of the final scene, filmed around 1:30 a.m.—and ended up spending more time on camera than I did! 😂

A huge salute to the cast and crew. They work incredibly hard and put in some very long hours each day. A special thank-you to Director Sigrid Bernardo; Jerry del Rosario, the Talent Coordinator who found me; my acting coach, Coach Wenah; and the entire Wide International Film & Entertainment crew.

It was fascinating to sit beside the Cinematographer for Sisikat Si Sikat, Boy Yniguez and watch him work. I kept joking that I hoped he could make me look better on screen than I do in real life!

Everyone treated Adela and me so warmly and took time to talk with us. Not only did I get to share a scene with one of the lead actresses, Rufa Mae Quinto, but Adela and I also enjoyed dinner with her and had the opportunity to know her personally. She is incredibly down-to-earth, warm and personable. I also had the privilege of meeting her beautiful daughter.

Spending two long days around the winery was tiring—but the experience was absolutely worth it. Now we wait for Sisikat Si Sikat to be released in theaters!

For now, we are back at a new favorite—Avelino Beach Camp at Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte—relaxing beneath the palm trees and enjoying the soothing sounds of the surf. 🌴🌊
