It’s so special to us that we played a tiny part in the farewell of @university_pub on this day last year - so it was almost too perfect when we saw the original sign pop up on FB marketplace after a contractor fished these letters out of the dumpster. I’m so happy we could keep a tiny piece of TCU history alive that so many Frogs feel connected to.

On January 6, 2026, a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 arriving at New York’s JFK Airport became part of a memorable moment as Flight DL915 completed its final approach from Los Angeles to JFK. Just before landing, the Captain informed the tower controller that this would be his last flight before retirement, marking the end of a long aviation career.

Kennedy Tower immediately responded with heartfelt congratulations, praising the captain and joking about the weather preventing a traditional water salute. The controller thanked him on behalf of the FAA and wished him a happy retirement, telling him to enjoy a couple of cold ones. In a moment that drew laughs, the controller also joked and said “I promise I won’t yell at you when you land, and I’ll make sure you get through the gate with no phone numbers, all right?”. A playful nod to New York’s reputation for tough, fast-talking air traffic controllers. Captain Taylor responded with gratitude, saying he couldn’t imagine ending his career anywhere else, closing out a career with humor, respect, and genuine warmth.
