A building torn open, floors exposed, windows gone — another piece of an ordinary Ukrainian city turned into ruins.

For millions of Ukrainians, Russia’s war isn’t something they watch on the news. It is what can happen to the building next door, the street they walk every day, or the home where they went to sleep the night before.

This is what “Russian peace” looks like.

She kept telling her mother that she was far from the front, when in reality she was living in a trench right on the front line.

Whenever her mother asked if she was safe, Savita would reply, "Yes, Mom, I'm far away from the fighting."

Her name was Savita Wagner. She was 36 years old—a German woman who had never been to Ukraine before 2022 and had no friends here.

But after seeing Bucha following its liberation, she could not stand aside.

At first, she delivered humanitarian aid. Then she joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

She served in the volunteer battalion Carpathian Sich under the callsign "Snake."

She was a combat medic who saved dozens of lives.

Her mother, Ursula, learned the truth only after her daughter's death. Three weeks before she was killed, they met in Kyiv.

That was when Savita told her: "Mom, I am defending Europe's freedom."

On January 31, 2024, she was evacuating a wounded comrade under fire when she was killed in a Russian bombardment.

The only living soul that helped keep her grounded was her cat, Simka.

... This is not a grandiose legend. It is the bitter price paid by those who willingly choose another nation's cause as their own.

This Ukrainian colonel returned to military service twice to become a shield for his soldiers—and gave his life with unwavering faith in Ukraine.

Colonel Mykola Pavlyshen, callsign "Dragon," was born into a humble farming family in Ukraine's Vinnytsia region.

After completing his mandatory military service, he enrolled in the Ryazan Airborne Command School and rose through the ranks from lieutenant to battalion commander.

He commanded airborne brigades, taught at military academies in Odesa and Lviv, and trained hundreds of officers who are now among the pride of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

But real war caught up with him in 2014. He voluntarily returned to service, formed the legendary Storm Battalion, and spent the next two years driving Russian-backed forces from eastern Ukraine. Later, he shared his combat experience with Ukraine's Border Guard Service.

In 2021, he returned to active duty once again, becoming Deputy Commander on the southern front.

He played a key role in organizing the defense of Yuzhnoukrainsk, preventing Russian forces from breaking through, and helped prepare the liberation of the Kherson region.

When Russia intensified its drone attacks, Dragon built a mobile counter-drone training system from the ground up.

He was respected by everyone—from city mayors to the newest private. He always put the soldier first.

His wife, Larysa, said:

> "Kolya was a reliable pillar of strength, a caring father, and a man with a kind and sincere heart."

Even in wartime, he remained a devoted husband, father, and mentor.

On November 20, 2025, Colonel Pavlyshen was killed while carrying out his duties.

He was laid to rest in Odesa.

Until his very last day, he remained faithful to his oath and to Ukraine.

Цей хлопець у 16 копав окопи, у 18 пішов у розвідку, у 19 тягнув пораненого побратима 2 км під обстрілами, а у 20 загинув.

Денис Волинець народився 2005 року на Житомирщині. Батьки розлучилися, коли він був зовсім малим, а з відчимом стосунки не склалися.

Його виховували мама й бабуся - на 860 грн дитячої допомоги. Мама працювала ночами, аби син мав усе необхідне.

Коли почалася війна, Денисові було 16. Він бігав до військкомату, охороняв училище та копав окопи.

Щойно виповнилося 18, він пішов до військкомату. Мама благала, погрожувала, навіть обіцяла купити "Жигулі", аби не йшов.

Він служив у розвідці 100-ї бригади, став оператором дронів. Командир тоді писав мамі: "Якби моя воля - я б дав йому всі нагороди".

У грудні 2025-го Денис вперше приїхав додому у відпустку. Зробив фотосесію з мамою.

А 22 лютого 2026 року загинув під Костянтинівкою.

Йому було лише 20.

Його тіло було обгорілим і понівеченим. Мама впізнала сина за татуюванням і годинником.

Побратими привезли їй його фронтову кішку - вона пройшла з Денисом весь Донецький напрямок. Тепер кішка живе вдома і чекає на нього.

Найбільше Денис хотів нагороду "Золотий Хрест" і отримав її - посмертно.

А ще він знайшов на війні те, чого не мав удома - батька. Фронтового, побратима Миколу з позивним "Блондин".

Той має четверо своїх дітей, а Денис став для нього п'ятим сином.

Микола возив йому гамбургери, навіть суші, на позицію. Балував, як міг. Востаннє Денис попросив привезти гамбургери - за кілька годин до смерті.

Микола не встиг. Він тричі заїжджав, щоб вивезти тіло. Першу машину підбили, друга не пройшла, і лише втретє вдалося.

Він мріяв освідчитися дівчині, побудувати будинок та просто жити. Але не встиг.

Сьогодні його фронтовий батько досі не може повірити, що Денис не повернеться. Йому здається, що той просто поїхав у відпустку.

It is important that these people are seen by those who make decisions – decisions at the Pentagon, in European capitals, and everywhere in the world where there is an opportunity to help Ukraine protect lives. Reality speaks for itself. Protecting lives is necessary. Air defense missiles are necessary.

Ukrainian Defender Danylo Voronov lost his entire family in a Russian strike on Radushne, Dnipropetrovsk region.

At the moment a Russian ballistic missile hit their home, his parents, seven brothers and sisters, and his 1.5-year-old son, Artem, were inside.

Danylo says Artem was a cheerful little boy who was always smiling and loved pressing the keys of a piano. His family believed he had a gift for music.

This is an unimaginable tragedy.
