Es gibt zwei Pseudo-Argumente in Debatten mit einem bestimmten Milieu, die mich regelmässig auf die Palme bringen.

Das eine ist der notorische Oktoberfest-Verweis („Ja weißt du… am Oktoberfest gibt’s auch sexuelle Übergriffe…“). Darauf gehe ich jetzt gar nicht erst ein. Sicher auch schon gehört, oder etwa nicht?

Viel nerviger ist jedoch der Mossadegh-Verweis: „Ja weißt du… Mossadegh… Demokratie… Schah… CIA…“

Dieser Verweis ist nicht nur historisch schief, mit Halbwissen behaftet wegen mangelhafter Berichterstattung und voller Halbwahrheiten – er ist vor allem vollkommen sachfremd.

Was genau hat Mossadegh, der im Jahr 1953 seine Macht vollständig verlor, mit der heutigen Situation im Iran zu tun?

Nichts.

Der eigentliche Subtext dahinter ist allerdings perfide und erst jetzt fange ich damit an zu verstehen, was man damit indirekt sagen will:

„Ja weisst du... Die Iraner hatten ihre Chance auf Demokratie und diese haben sie im Jahr 1953 vertan. Jetzt verdienen sie keine zweite – schon gar nicht mit dem Kronprinzen, dessen Vater dafür verantwortlich ist. Sie sind nicht reif für die Demokratie!“

Solche Gedanken nicht nur historisch falsch, sondern zutiefst undemokratisch. Es unterstellt einem ganzen Volk kollektive Unreife auf Lebenszeit.

Kronprinz Reza Pahlavi ist nicht sein Vater. Er will keinen Thron, sondern einen Systemwechsel hin zu einer Demokratie, deren genaue Form das iranische Volk selbst entscheiden soll.

Zwischen 1979 und heute liegen 47 Jahre brutaler Theokratie. Wer Menschen heute nach Taten ihrer Eltern vor fast einem halben Jahrhundert beurteilt, hat das Prinzip individueller Verantwortung nicht verstanden.

Ein Regime, das seit Monaten das Internet lahmlegt, hat jede Legitimation verloren. Die Mehrheit des iranischen Volkes will Veränderung. Diesen Willen ernst zu nehmen, ist kein westlicher Imperialismus – es ist das Selbstbestimmungsrecht der Völker.

Reza Pahlavi ist derzeit der glaubwürdigste Führer eines friedlichen Übergangs. Was danach kommt und was aus ihm wird, entscheidet allein das iranische Volk.

I call on the outgoing prime minister to immediately stop spreading fear. I urge him not to attempt to instill fear in our fellow Hungarians for cynical campaign purposes.

Under a TISZA government, there will once again be order, peace, and security in Hungary. The government will not frighten its own citizens, but will act when necessary and unite the nation.

According to the media, they tried to remove the clause on Ukraine's territorial integrity from the text. Let me remind you that the US was one of the guarantors of Ukraine's territorial integrity under the Budapest Memorandum. In exchange for these guarantees, Ukraine gave up the world's third largest nuclear arsenal.
