To the enclaves, exploring these ruins threatens to uncover the transgressions of the ancients and instigate the forest's remorseless anger.
More moderate opponents to exploration believe that it might cause damage to the native habitat. Others simply think it's too dangerous.
The ancient cities of Venus are a topic of debate amongst the planet's citizens. Many in the great cities see the ruins as an important foundation of cultural enrichment and wish to negotiate exploratory rights when the rare occasion arises. (Cont.)
Most enclaves are vehemently opposed to this. Due to the predominance of the forests they revere in these ruins, they are considered sacrosanct. It is common belief that ancient Venusians committed egregious sins which caused the forests to extinguish their way of life. (Cont.)
The worlds on the other side of the gate were often just as still. Beasts seemed to shun what they could never comprehend.
But something - someone - peered through the gate from the other side. Familiar, yet foreign, it stood out of reach, waiting for something - someone...

Ayla blushed. The orange star burned in young McConnell. Some grounding meditations seemed to be in order for him. In the meantime, she slyly left the seed of Hoshiki-dono thrashing him in sparring for him to dream about. Ayla couldn't help but giggle a little.
Ayla always checked on the mental state of the crew as she retired from her daily duty. The beacons fluttered through the ship unseen, glancing into the minds of fellow crewmates. When one peered into Mr. McConnell's head, she found a vision of Hoshiki-dono she didn't expect...
