"We will be ashamed of what we did here, one day. And at least, if that came true, it would mean things had got better. A better tomorrow, bought with a succession of compromised todays."
Most of the coolest job postings I've seen are on USA Jobs, it just sucks that it takes upwards of a year to hear back from any of these applications.
Oh well, the CCP persists, therefore so must I.
What’s missing in a lot of post-Obama searches for a great communicator is that in his most famous speeches Obama actually articulated heterodox positions, he *wasn’t* just a great expositor of ideas everyone in the party agreed with.

Something I really like about America is how uncomfortable we are about servants. People who do services do not *serve you*. They *do tasks*. They are a professional, working independently, and below nobody. This is not common around the world, and is to America’s credit.
In the darkest hours of my open source days (~2016 battle for Aleppo) I raised my and the team's spirits by maintaining a "Twinks of Hezbollah" folder with all the strangest metrosexual Iraqi militiamen we would come across
Progressives have pretty good timing to have these primary wins in what's likely to be a D +7 cycle. Like you can underperform by 5 points or whatever and still win a lot of places. And most people just look at the Ws and Ls, not the margins.
I am not an AAUP member, but I think it is a really bad idea for the American Association of University Professors to be endorsing candidates, especially in a factional Democratic primary.
Even though Jackson is very progressive, I am fine with him as the nominee because he
1. Has proved he can win in red seats - he won a very red State Senate seat in 2022! After he left office, the next Democrat lost by 30 points
2. He primarily campaigns against Republicans
Dems are gonna take the House and gain senate seats but it’s notable how badly Democrats are underperforming the “get people who don’t like Trump to vote for the other party” line right now.
Haley Stevens talks about policy all the time. And, in fact, she's famously one of the most effective younger legislators in Congress. You simply haven't encoded her policy stances in memory because she is a woman. There is research on this effect.
1. This sucks and Democrats desperately need to enact a national gerrymandering ban and open the door to DC/PR/USVI statehood
2. Can’t do any of that until you win first on a badly slanted field which requires significant policy moderation
One thing to remember is that people liked the boring liberals Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, and they have not particularly liked any of our other presidents
Ten years of populist ping-pong have definitively failed to resolve any of the grievances that allegedly powered its rise.
Meanwhile, people seem to really like chill like Phil Scott, Josh Stein, and Laura Kelly put up amazing numbers.
Main critique is they’re boring.
Great game, Mr. President. 🏀

The AK state-house is an Indie-led coalition with Dems & moderate Reps. The state Senate is also an R/D coalition
Alaska House: 21-19 🔵 (I) Speaker
Alaska Senate: 14-6 🔴 (R) Maj. Leader
Let me tell you a little story.
In 2014, moderate Democrat Brad Ashford defeated a Republican incumbent in NE-02, one of only two Democrats to do so that year. Sadly, he lost in 2016 after failing to outrun Clinton by enough in a district Trump won.
In the 2018 blue wave, Ashford sought a comeback. NE-02 was now prime territory for Dems, full of suburban and urban voters who did not vibe with MAGA.
But progressive Kara Eastman disliked his moderate stances, and, backed by Justice Democrats, beat him in the primary by 3.3 points.
Tragically, despite Biden going on to win NE-02 by 6.5% just two years later, and 2018 being an enormous blue wave year that saw Dems win in places like OK and SC, Eastman lost by 2pts. She was unable to persuade suburban voters, who elected normie Republican Don Bacon.
THEN she tried again in 2020 and lost by 4.6 points, underperforming Biden in the district by more than **11 points.**
Don Bacon has thus been entrenched in the US House ever since, until now. He is retiring, which will probably let Democrats finally win this seat.
