We’re so proud to announce that #CaptainsofZaatari will have its world premiere in competition at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival - World Documentary Competition. Thank you to everyone who supported the film’s journey and we can’t wait to share it with you at #Sundance2021.
CAPTAINS OF ZAATARI is among the strongest films I’ve seen this year at #Sundance 2021. (And believe me, I have done extensive watching & continue to do so.) Don’t let it slip away before the fest ends tomorrow. Truly incredible.

Want to thank @mhcovill and @812filmreviews for tweeting about Captains of Zaatari the other day. I watched it this morning because of your reviews and am super glad I didn’t leave it out of my #Sundance2021 viewing!!
#Sundance Movie 39: Captains of Zaatari. A great little movie about the grandeur of sports and dreams coming into conflict with the harsh realities of the real world. #CaptainsOfZaatari
I guess these would be my picks for best films in each Sundance section (not necessarily my favorites):
US Dramatic - Wild Indian
US Documentary - Try Harder!
World Dramatic - Pleasure
World Documentary - Captains of Zaatari
NEXT - Strawberry Mansion

Caught up with CAPTAINS OF ZAATARI - which was truly great - but I really wish it was a HOOP DREAMS-style 3-hour-long sports doc so that I could get more of Mahmoud and Fawzi’s world.

Captains of Zaatari is a brilliantly touching look at two young Syrian boys from a refugee camp who dare to dream their love of football can take them across the world. Storytelling at its finest with characters you’ll think about long after.
CAPTAINS OF ZAATARI follows two Syrian soccer players, making their way from a Jordanian refugee camp to a tournament in Qatar. A poignant and inspiring story of friendship and daring to dream, even when the world has said that you shouldn't. An important piece of filmmaking.

So glad I watched Captains of Zaatari, a strong contender for my favourite film of #Sundance2021. A compelling look at a burning friendship, an underdog sports film loaded with intense feeling and compassion. @Dogwoof i love you.
