eBay does ok. So do Amazon and Walmart.

Got to be $100 million+ in annual revenue...and I'd be shocked if net margin was more than 2.5%. Most sellers are at 1-2% net.

@TheGentRacer I hear you. Zero margin growth = high valuation seems a little like perpetrating a fraud, but revenue makes the world go round I guess...

I think tax policy has something to do with it too. Capital gains tax is lower than income tax - seems like a penalty for good businesses.

@TheGentRacer Slowdown panic is a great argument *against* VC backed growth. It always seems to lead to layoffs based on unsustainable business practices facilitated by VC.

I'd like to live in a world where good margins sustain growth, but I suppose there are factors I'm not considering...

@TheGentRacer It's all about growth, right? And no one is projecting good growth over the next 2 years.

Little/no growth means there's no big valuation. No big valuation? No ROI. So, cut costs, consolidate, and weather the storm. Sucks for lots of people.

VCs always do OK, however.🙄
