For years, many insisted the next presidential election had to be in 2027. My argument has always been different: the Constitution speaks of "the second Tuesday in August in every fifth year."

Today, Justice Mugure Thande of the High Court at Malindi has held that, on her interpretation of the Constitution, the presidential election ought to be held in August 2026. Constitutional interpretation is governed by the text, not by political convention. When we return to first principles, the Constitution answers the question.

Rift Valley Leaders are on the ground mobilizing their people to vote as a Block!

Mount Kenya is doing the same.

Coast Region is doing the same.

Western Kenya is in similar mode.

Luo Nyanza is in similar mode.

Kamba people are doing similar.

And so are Somalis.

Politics in Kenya has always revolved around the Big Tribes consolidating its votes then entering into tribal alliances.

To accuse one region of tribalism is stupid hypocrisy!

Our democracy is tribe-centric. Anything else is fantasy.

The Movie is THE TITANIC. The ship has hit the iceberg. Water levels are near full inside the ship. Its clear to all its headed to the bottom of the sea. The passengers are prepared for the worst. FACT: WE ARE KILLING TOURISM IN KENYA

Malindi was once a tourist jewel for Kenya exclusively built by Italians … Then we allowed kiosks & slums all over … Taps ran dry … garbage remained uncollected …. Insecurity gripped in … Italians left …. Malindi died.

Naivasha was once a beautiful tourist resort with many hotels & restaurants ran by English & Dutch people … We allowed kiosks all over … We allowed unplanned buildings ..
The town doesn’t have sufficient water nor sewage system … Europeans left … Naivasha is dead.

Nanyuki & its environs grew to be a beautiful upscale tourist circuit built on the investment of English settlers & the British army …. There was enough money for everyone … Even for the prostitutes … Then we allowed kiosks … We allowed unplanned buildings … We started accusing the British of real & imagined crimes … A very close friend of mine told me his cousin was bitten by a hyena but he sued the British army that he was injured by an ordinance! And he was paid! The British Army will soon pull out … Nanyuki will collapse into a slum!

Show me one tourist town in Kenya that succeeded after Europeans relocated from it.

Look at Tanzania & Namibia …. They are overtaking us in tourism because they have ring-fenced resort sites from kiosks & slums!

One day, tourism will die in Kenya … We will be competing with Nigeria who receives 5,000 tourists a year ..
Or Somalia that receives 20 tourists!

When pro-Government politicians accuse Rigathi Gachagua of tribalism, I just laugh! Which politician is not a tribalist? When Luo leaders want to make a political statement, they don’t go do it in Machakos but in Nyanza. Kenya is made of tribes whose leaders want a share of the national cake for their people. It is why voting in Kenya is build around tribal blocks. It will always be that way.
